I was to fast. There is a shoulder on the ring gear I got from Hoca. I don't have a mill so I will do it by hand. Wouldn't let the washer engage on the splines. Could be awhile.

Starter relay wouldn't engage. So I bought one on ebay. As soon as I turned the switch on it engaged. I finally had to pull the battery cable to get it to stop. Ordered another different place. It engages as soon as power is put on; but this one turns off with the key. Both bypassed all safety switches. Now what do I do. I'm finally going back together painting fairings.

Check the power going to the relay. If you put one probe of a multimeter on each wire from the little 2 prong connector, you should only have 12V when the brake lever is held, ignition on, and starter button depressed. If it's hot all of the time you've got a short or a bad switch.

There are manuals that are good for the engine and CVT in the link in my signature, but I haven't seen anything TaoTao specific.

It was the switch. Eagle isn't cheap on parts.

If I remember right there is a plug that goes to the EGR? I removed all of it. I'm trying to remember. There is only one last thing. The key switch? I hate throwing parts to fix.

Most of the scooter emissions systems have no electrical connections. Unless you meant something to plug off, in that case there is a spot on the head that needs to be plugged if you wish to remove the emissions stuff. PAIR Removal.

Thanks for the diagram. I was wondering how it was bypassing all the safety switches. My scooter is 5 or 6 years old. On mine I had EGR gear on the left side frame.

It did not work. So I checked w/o power and I had 5 ohms across the relay posts. Shouldn't the relay be N/O.

Yeah, should be no continuity when off.

I ask just to verify my thoughts. Ordered another relay from Eagle. 2 bad relays from different places I'm a little upset. Been a long time since I have had to trouble shoot. Now I'm 2nd guessing if I had both brakes engaged on the old relay. So it may not have been bad. Now where did I put it?
Thanks for the help.

Bad harness I did something in the year working on it. Ordered new harness from Eagle. They sent wrong harness. The starter works now. Have to modify the front turn signals. When plugged in they stay on. The signal wires were just single push ins. I used these sort of connectors on aircraft. No need for solder or heat shrink. Just put the wires in and heat. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001H1HI5Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Has anyone found an after market exhaust that doesn't have to be modded to get it to fit?
