Out of the box a 54mm will out power a 52mm.A 52 is only better as the transfer ducts can be made larger due to its smaller bore, but it requires hours of work though.. There are some high end(read high price) jug kits out there thatll be real strong, but lots more add ons will be needed to get there..

Considering you get more flow with a 52 than with a 54 and take into consideration the 54 would need more work than is possible due to the casting but like you say john, the 54 leaves us with displacement is king, stock that is. I have eyed the mx90(the pretty green anodized streets) but I just cant justify that price plus accessories. If I was building A drag only bike yes, but I will just be cruising the streets. I ordered the 54 ac today. Cant beleive that one guy never came back with results on the wc 53!! I think 190 exhaust 130 transfers. Sound good? I think this has the aux ports. I am willing to do a bit of work but cant get crazy as I dont want to invest in anything besides my drimmel, haha. Im leaving for big bend tonight and when I get home cylinder should be here. Hopefully it will make more power than my 52 which didnt have any work done. Then I think I will slap the hoca back on but first test the or that is on there.stay tuned, I appreciate all input from everyone!

I got my hoca 54mm installed. Exhaust is 186 and transfers are 130. I ran it for a bit but I know I need a larger main as I fried my 52mm with the 90 main. It runs good I guess but need to jet it. It has a loud whistle noise which I assume could be the fan on the new or? I hope its not a main bearing damaged from my wrist pin pooping. I think I recall that noise before.when it warms up I guess testing will begin. The compression is 160.

I very rarely run a head gasket and this is no exception. I have 1mm of squish and dont want anymore. I considered running my 52 head but it is a lot smaller. Guess I need to put some copper sealant on the head. I dont much like head gaskets unless they are copper anyway. I would prefer the compression to be around 175psi. The id of the lip inside the 52 mm is 45mm irc, the 54 head is at 54. I have a 53 mm head but I dont think it is squish type. The physical size and number of fins is a lot more on new 54 head. Very well could be a leak as when I nail it hesitates to rev and could be due to a leak. At high rpm the noise is very noticeable

You could sand the head down just a tiny bit to make sure its flat and drop the squish to around .8mm...

I had to sand my head down a good bit to get the squish down on the hoca.

Cool, that is likely what I will do.

Ok, the vibration noise is from my license plate. I put a 100 main in for safety sake. Maybe its the cylinder timings are different or some other issue ( like really cold weather) but it doesnt come alive until 6k.

Sounds good, if that is the case I need heavier clutch springs. It engages at 3800 k now.pulls hard from what I can tell.
