Just got back from a test run and noticed gear oil on the side of the back tire. The wheel has back and forth movement even though the lug nut is tight against the shaft. I can hear a clicking noise when I push the bike back and forth so I assume I had a melt down Inside the gear box somewhere. To hot to do anything with it now.

What gears did you go with? didnt you leave the gears that came in it in there? that is a polaris engine? i kept getting oil on the inside of my wheel but i assume it was because i put too much oil in it. Finally after a few weeks it stopped spitting it out!this might be your case. I think there will be a bit of side to side movement. I think if something broke, it sowld be BROKE.

It's the polaris engine I kept all the original parts. But apparently I am missing something because you can see when the wheel is tight on the shaft it's rubbing against the casing. I'm assuming the shaft bearings are where the play is coming from now. I'm just not sure someone didn't not put something back in when it was taken apart before... I don't see what is supposed to keep the shaft away from the case when the wheel is tight against it. But on the bright side all the gears are still good. But the bearings and oil seal not so much.

I have that washer...I'm just curious because its the only washer in there?? I just need to find a diagram etc to make me feel better about how its supposed to go together Maybe if you take yours apart sometime you can tell me....lol I'm just going to swap the 72cc motor back in and wait till I figure out WTF the problem is. I'm obviously going to need to order new bearings etc anyway.

i did take mine out of the busted engine before i took it to the post office. the only washer that was in there was about the diamter of a quarter and pretty flat. more like a thin shim. There were no other washers in there. Do you have a bearing in you cvt cover that holds the other end of the shaft? I dont think mine did but i plan on using my jog gears and jog case cover so I will have that extra support. I read on polaris specs that they are capable of towing up 850# ! the original atv weighs 245# i think can hold 45# on front and like 180# on the seat. That is A lot of weight! I dont know how someone on a scooter could tear up a gear box.

Cool so there is only one washer. Yes mine does have a bearing on the CVT cover. Maybe the shaft is slightly bent? Or its just a bad bearing i'm finding out about now.

Thanks for the link. I have all the parts I need except for the needle bearing. I believe the 6004 bearing is the cause of my problem of the drive shaft rubbing against the case. It seems to me that it is supposed to stop the drive shaft from being drawn to far into the case. As long as I am replacing all the bearings etc. I think I will just throw in a new drive shaft also.

That would be cool moofus thanks. I saved the springs etc from my other stand. Got a package for you I will try and get it sent out today. So I am assuming all the bearings are pressed in place from the tire side towards the gearbox? Thus the need for the retaining clips? I am getting so old...my ankle is still swollen a bit... I need naughty nurse nancey to pay me a visit
