I could never get the stock variator to control the 90cc in the short case with the 50cc gears. Never tried the 8.8:1 ATV gears. Didn't seem like a good idea at 300lb and I really liked the launches with 11:1s and 50-60MPH was good enough for me rollin' on 10s.

Yea that is what I am looking for 0-55 mph. I can feel the power there it just isn't taking off and pulling like I want. You can feel the torque it just isn't getting to the ground. I am running 5 gram rollers, should I move up in weight? I figured since I wanted to run at 7500-9500 rpm light rollers would be better. I have a 1k contra and stock clutch shoe springs. Maybe drill some holes in shoes for higher rpm engagement? I want to launch hard! 55 mph is fine, just want to. Get there fast

Stock clutch Springs won't help the launch with tall gears. The more power you make the heavier weight rollers you need to maintain the same rpm. Weights sound light with that contra. I would try some 1000 or 1500 clutch Springs whatever you can get away with without belt shift before clutch engagement.

I guess I would ask if was fast but that is kind of a broad range. Do you know your 0-50 mph times or does it pull very hard?

I Pulled the back wheel off to replace the brake pads. The brake pin came out freely with the pads. Pulled the gear cover off and found the nut and washer on the bottom of the gear box. Both made it past the gears without hitting them at all. Also slowly gathering some parts to upgrade the front headlight. Plus my wife wants it repainted with purple metallic flake and gloss black paint.

Recently painted the scoot with purple metallic flake. Did a full inspection everything still looks sweet. Wanted to do some tuning but the wife was hovering saying "I like my scooter the way it is" oh well...

In fact I have used that in every 2T I've had. I have stock gears.(11.5:1 if I recall right) The Scoot launches at just over 4,500 rpm (right at the edge of my power band) Take off is a slingshot! 0-30mph is a matter a VERY short distance...about 30 the contra spring starts to shift and 30-56mph comes up quickly! Even a 90cc 2T is not known for low end torque..cause 2T's get their power from rpm's...up those springs and let that thing rev... Glenn

My favorite cylinder is the 54mm 8 port 77MM(short cylinder)from autotech355. Its a beast and well worth the money. But you need a good crank to back it up. The 52mm 78.5mm(tall cylinder)is a better match for a standard crank. I've gotten the scooter up to 54mph. Running basicly a stock CVT except for a 1K contra and 2K clutch springs. I resurfaced the stock variator with 220 grit sandpaper and use 8 gram rollers. The launch is still strong even with the 8.3 atv gears. My wife blows by my 47.6mm even with a shot of added NOS. I'm running the 54mm on the wifes scooter you can cruise all day at 50 mph. Pretty awesome for basicly a stock scooter IMO. There is a lot more potential there but the wife is happy and won't let me teak it anymore. I won't even attempt to run anything less than 7g rollers to keep the belt from just slipping.

Just wondering. I have got stock gears, stock cylinder with few mods compression t 175psi using 8.1 gears and technigas 100cc pipe. Oh and a hoca cvt took me from 54 mph to 635mph very quickly. Now on mission to keep it a daily ride but also want to hit the track. It pretty Damn fast with the 43.5 hoca crank and 52mm cylinder. I also did a bit of trench work. Im In process of getting my 70 up to speed woth my 90 and then will do more work to the 90. My son and I race around so I can tell when an improvement has been made to one.

I know this is an old(ish) thread, but concerning that Hoca vari; I found that on mine when using the e-start, the Hoca would not "open up" all the way since it is deeper than the stock vari it hit on the e-start clutch and doesn't let the belt ride down onto the boss as it should. Nearly 2mm of shims were needed behind the vari ramp plate to cure this. When everything is on the shaft the kick start paul barely goes on the splines! After torquing with torque wrench it seems to tighten everthing up good.... Just wanted to add this info since u were mentioning the slow take-off with that Hoca vari... Keep on rollin!
