Not really a fan of the hoca variator myself. Seems like you have to make a compromise with the shims. If you and shims to get the bottom end it doesn't want to get the belt to the top etc.
Note: I haven't done anything lately with this build because the wife won't let me. Oh well it is her scooter after all...lol

That's weird total opposite what I got woth the hoca vari. Maybe it is because i run suck tall gears. But the vari picked me up a good 10 mph and I haven't even shimmed it, just put some 6.5 sliders in and took off! The 4.5 that came with it where way to light. I think I need to set some place between

Pulled an inspection on the cvt etc. Thought for sure I'd find something cool or at least needed fixing. But there was Nada...

I know this is an old(ish) thread, but concerning that Hoca vari; I found that on mine when using the e-start, the Hoca would not "open up" all the way since it is deeper than the stock vari it hit on the e-start clutch and doesn't let the belt ride down onto the boss as it should. Nearly 2mm of shims were needed behind the vari ramp plate to cure this. When everything is on the shaft the kick start paul barely goes on the splines! After torquing with torque wrench it seems to tighten everthing up good.... Just wanted to add this info since u were mentioning the slow take-off with that Hoca vari... Keep on rollin! Depends on the crank also...On the stock crank in this build there wasn't even enough room to add any shims. On my other build with the hoca crank I had to add another washer as well as the two shims to get it to tighten it all up.

I had to add multiple shims on my 45mm crank as well.

Added a fog light I cut down and modified. Doesn't look like much but it does help.

I wish I could say it's still going strong, but I haven't driven the thing in two weeks. Between the bitch of a neighbor and the carb issue and now the weather, I'm having to wait till I can crank it back up and keep working on it. But yeah, it is deeper than a stock and I'm more than ok with that.

That's pretty much exactly what's sitting on my patio for parts. Well, two of them. Not purple though They are 4ts. But they are looking to be more and more overgrown paperweights now.

I'm pretty sure they're 10" wheels. Yeah I've thought of doing the parts thing. I just haven't had time to take them apart and clean them up. There's a ton of rus in the CVT and there's no covers for them. Sooooo there's that. I was hoping to get rid of them when I first got them but now I just don't have the time or energy to concentrate on them AND my other 2 working scoots.
