So I got hoca cvt and ran it with the rollers that came with it. I dont know the weight of them but I'm sure they where too light. The engine was revving but didn't seem to be going any place fast. I was also using a bit woder belt brent suggested.Top speed was around 45-50. But it was not gearing out. I put some 6gram sliders in and swapped back the stock narrow belt (should have not changed belt at same time)and was a world of difference. It launches good but I think I could use a bit heavier weights. I really need to mark the vari to see where I'm at. I also need to groove the td pully a bit more. Brent talked about vari being as good an upgrade as a pipe put I dont see it. Maybe just needs more tuning..8.1gears I should be flying. Any advice is appreciated. 1000 contra yellow springs stock clutch. I ordered washers for the vari but they are wrong size.

Stock weights in the Hoca should be 4 or 4.5g IIRC. I think 4.5g. Too light for most 90s. The wider belt or heavier sliders may get the speed you want. You really need to play with spacers with the Hoca for best results on launch since the boss is short. Too many and it'll start dropping speed, not enough and it's slow leaving. If the washers for the vari match the ID at least, grind them down. I use shimming washers from McMaster-Carr that don't match the OD so I cut them down on the grinder. I'm sure they're out there that just fit, but I bought a pack of .5 and a pack of 1mm years ago and they've lasted so I haven't looked anymore. Like you said, should change one thing at a time. A narrow belt can make it rev too much at speed. Sometimes they make RPM higher all around. For me different setups respond a bit different.
I'm sorry it's not working out as you hoped from what I've said. There have been times when the Hoca has not done much for me, but on the 90s mine always work better with the Hoca vs stock. I am somewhat lost on this as well, as I figured you should be flying with the power you seem to have and those gears. For now my thought is to spend more time with it. Give it a chance to get in tune and see how it does. Keep a marker by your weights so you don't forget to mark the vari. I mark it on each run sometimes so I can see just how much different weights may be pushing the belt out.

Its not your fault, I have done a lot of study work as well. It is just very strange. With a max speed of 52 mph @9500 rpm it would seem I am only using 3/4 of my vari. Just need more tuning. I want to take it to the 1/8th but I know if I cant hit at least 60mph there isn't a point.with the wider belt I will ride higher on vari but wont be all the down in back. There is just a very fine line and I must find it. I am going to make some shims from something. Might check out the depot see if I can find something with correct od to make it easier

I made a shim out of a depot washer that had the correct od. Had to drill the id which was a pain. I ruined two before I got one drilled. It's worth a shot in a bind.

FU#K YES!! just got to take er for a wide open run. Did 59.3 mph before I got out of it at 9400 rpm. Ihave had this bike up to around 10,500k so I assune there is a bit more mph as it sits. I was familiar with the road so I did stay all the way in it. Man that is fast on 10's! It still launches hard and feels it could easily pull the wheel up from 0-25 or 30 if not sitting on front of seat hard. I got some washers I think will work with some spinning on the drill. Then I can go to wider belt and see what happens. Thanks for the help everybody! Want to hit strip soon. I think I need to hit about 70 to have a good et. I bet 60 ft times are good, I just dont want to be topped out 3/4 of the track. More to come. Its beastly! Thanks again all that helped!!

Very happy to hear it. I couldn't understand why it wasn't doing anything for you. So what did you change to get the improvement, just roller weight?

Supposed to say I was familiar with the road so I got off of it. Yes, just played with weights with stock belt. I am sure there is some more belt travel if I use wider belt just jave to make some washers. I might need to lower weight a bit more. It takes off hard but around 40mph its about 7k and I think would be a bit quicker if the rpm were up a bit more. I am getting there..I raced my son up a hill he is 135# and was on the 70cc jog. I Blasted him like I was racing a stock tao. Then my home ac took a shit so priorities changed I think I got it fixed though, the coils inside were coated with inch of dog hair. Hopefully I can get up early and fiddle a bit

Haha, new findings. Took it out for a ride this am and hit 64 @ 9600 rpm. I ddo dont want to go any faster until I get my leak in the rear wheel bearing fixed. It is a very slow leak but it spins oil all over the back tire. My worst fear is the rear end locking up at high speed and second is spinning out on a corner

This is a measurement of my axle. I am hoping the bearing doesn't rest on the part of axle that is 25mm and instead seats on the flat spot right past the spline that is a tad over 19mm. From pics I have seen it fits right past the s plines on the small flat area before it move up to 25mm. I ordered a 6004-2rs and hope it fits, any advice?
