lol, cant wait to see that reaction in real life. Maybe i should bail and play the part, or just say "yea, thats the only time it runs good when its on fire".

I was on my way home yesterday when i came up to a stop light and stopped. While i was waiting for the light to change i felt my scoot surging and wanting to take off on its own at idle. It felt like someone was trying to get me going by pushing my rear tire with their foot. It reved up fine and didnt stall out while sitting still, but it wasnt right. I started thinking that i might have broken a clutch spring or a shoe, but i was also thinking if that was it than it would die when i stopped and not want to rev a bit before taking off. I got it home and let it cool then took it apart to see that my clutch nut(the big one) had backed itself out until it was rubbing the clutch bell and causing the whole problem. I was happy to see it was a free fix but also realized how worn my clutch is getting, its down to the last 1-2mm of material left. As my great grandfather would have said "im gettn all the good out of it" lol. While i had it apart i figured i would go ahead and clean the torque driver because i hadnt done that since i have owned the scooter. When i took it apart i was kinda surprised to see oil in the driver instead of grease.?. Anybody else find that funny, is it supposed to have oil? The only reason i figure it does is to help with the heat. I ended up putting high temp grease on it when i assembled it. Seemed to have helped, but let me know if i should switch it back to oil. I just like the idea of grease instead of oil, i mean if a seal broke that could be a big problem quick with oil.

Mine had something more similar to oil as well. I've had grease in there for hundreds of miles now with no problems.

Well i finally did it!!!! I got Skeedr to "Power Wheelie" from a stop without pulling up on the bars ;D. I was so happy i was shaking the first time it did it. My buddy was standing in front of my house watching and thought it was cool. He asked if i was shaking lol, and i said "yea, i guess i am, this is a big accomplishment for me". So being the good friend he is he got even more excited too. Its not really any more "power" causing the wheelie, its more getting the trans and motor to match up and come on as a team into the power. Here is a video my son made of Skeedr doing a few wheelies, im just along for the ride. I wasnt going for distance, just showing that it will "power" itself up into a wheelie. In one of the wheelies you can see me start to pull then stop, its more like i straightened my arms. Hard to not pull up when you are used to it

That's awesome. Now I'm really jealous that I can't wheelie on a 99cc. lol

Thanks! At first i found i could get a ton of lost low end back by putting the restrictor ring back in the vari, but that limited belt travel so it was screaming at 50mph(top speed) with the ring in. I got to thinking about a way to get the best of both(low and top end) with out the ring and remembered reading about someone that shaved their variator down in the center to keep it from pinching the belt at a stop and to make it hold a lower "gear" longer. The same person also shaved the top of the vari to force the belt up to hold a higher speed. They claimed to have good results so i gave it a shot. I focused on getting a good launch w/out screaming at 50+ when i filed on my vari and i must say it works if you know were to file and how much to take off. I would only file a little bit at a time just to be safe, unless you have a spare. Now that im typing about it i wish i had taken a few pics. I will be doing my filing tonight so i can take some pics then, if anybody is interested....

I'm interested. I've got an aftermarket variator, but I'd still like to see what you're up to.

Im glad to hear you are interested cause it seems to be working better the more i take off. In the video i had a homemade restrictor ring in that was very thin and only filing a little off the outer stop plate, now after filing the vari stop and the drive plates 2 times to take about a millimeter off(im guessing, probably more) i am running without a ring at all and it takes off great ;D. Digs hard, before it would roll out on a bit of a bog(not much), then rev(almost free rev), then grab and go. Now it just flat out goes, seems to hold "first gear" longer, and because there isnt as much material in the center of the vari it should push the belt higher because it can close more. I finished mine up a little bit ago and had time for a short ride before a storm blew in. It helped allot man, i can take off great and my rpm,s are down at at cruising speeds and higher speeds. I couldnt top it out but i did hit 55@ 9,700. Thats about 600 or less rpm than before, and all for free, thats the best part . I wish i remembered were i read about this because i would like to give credit were its do. I didnt come up with this idea on my own, i just read about it and did my own experimenting. I am happy with the results and plan on doing more soon. I want to get a spare vari first. Brent, you can go all out bud since you have a extra one . Just take it bit by bit to get the feel for how your beast is responding to it. Here are a few pics to get the brain picture The vari "drive" pulley before doing anything The drive after a bit of filing The vari "stop" pulley, or "fan pulley" after a bit of filing Here you can see the fan pulley with the restrictor ring in the recessed spot for it and the drive boss, before i started the ring was flush with the vari face. When i got done the recessed area was about gone, and i think i could go more.

That's what I figured you were doing, nice to see pics though. I don't have a spare aftermarket vari, but I do have to use a spacer in mine so I may try it at some point anyway.
