Got a new UNI clone filter like the one Vert has off the bay for $11.95. These things FLOW ! I had the carb off many times up jetting to get it rich enough at WOT, went from an 80 main to a 100 main to keep enough fuel flowing. It was tricking finding a place to tuck this beast of a filter. I ended up putting it right in front of the cooling shroud outlet. I didnt like the fact of it being right were all the heat is but at least its in front of the outlet so it should get plenty of cool air while cruising. I like it, throaty as hell and allot better response than before . Top end is about the same i think? I havent really let it go for more the a quarter mile or so. Its breathing better at 9,600 i know that. Here it is next to my old filter On the carb with a funky (temp) adapter Stuffed into the scoot Think it was a bit lean? This was with a 86main. My normal burn is on the left. I ended up with this, right is 100ish, left is 80 main jets

That's crazy. I went from 98 to 100 from K&N to this filter. You went from 80 to 100 from generic K&N to this filter. Either that says a lot for genuine K&N filters, or it's just odd.

I think it says allot for a genuine K&N, i did oil my wannabe filter with foam filter oil a while back. I think that may have caused it to get restrictive quick, i think its paper not cotton. Plus you have allot bigger carb. This 18 Mikuni has always been funny to tune with this motor, ran good with the stock jug but wont idle for any length of time no matter how i tune it or what size pilot i use. I thought i might have a case leak until i borrowed another carb and it idled fine with it. Thats another reason im saving for a good, bigger carb. Skeedr sure likes this filter, now thats i have it all tuned in i like it too.

After a weekend of fun i noticed my clutch vibrating and acting worse than ever so i took it apart to discover that one of the shoe "stops" are missing and to top that off the backing plate is bent. All i had to work with was a smaller clutch from my uncles Cobra .Hhhmm. I was a bit worried about clutch to bell alignment but afet some measuring i wasnt worried too much about the clutch being a bit smaller The Kymco clutch springs are shorter than Minarelli,s too so i put in the short ones The results ended up being good with a 6k launch, a HARD one. Probably wont last...Hopefully at least until i get a new one...

Hopefully you don't get any ill effects from the small clutch in the big bell. Sounds like a lot of stress for the clutch springs.

Pushin it to the edge but it launches hard, too hard . Goes bang like ive been rear ended and im off ;D. I wouldnt recommend doing this, parts will break sooner

The shorter spring is less stiff since it has one more turn. It looks like it's wire diameter could be a little smaller too.

yea, shorter tighter spring+smaller clutch in big clutch bell=one hell of a 6,000rpm launch. Not recommended for kids ages 6 and under. EDIT: Sorry Reg, couldnt afford to pay my attention . I will try the longer ones and see if it goes to 7,000rpm before the launch

If this setup dosnt break im strechin it and finding another d/driver and Skeedr,s becoming a drag Skeedr . That would be sweeet

This clutch setup is the sh!t if your into hard high revving launches(only good for drag racing). I mostly just "roll" onto the throttle slow when i want to take off "normal". I tried to keep the hard launches down to minimum because like i said it hits HARD and i really dont want to break anything in the trans. I rode for about 30min last night before i started to get some clutch slip. I suspected that to happen sooner or later with less clutch shoe making contact with the bell but hey gotta expect stuff like that when trying something different(new to me). Im going to take the clutch back off today and see what happened to it after a few hard launches and a little ride time

If you really want a late engaging clutch, I think you're gonna be better off going with an aftermarket setup. I may be wrong, but I just think this way will have you constantly pulling apart the trans to inspect the clutch and end up failing prematurely.

I was looking at Scooter-attacks catalog and i like their RMS race clutch. Seems simple, light and affordable but i cant find it on their site. Not like i would pay the shipping costs just for a clutch but its a good place to look at what to look for lol, if ya know what i mean.?.

Yeah. Find what you're interested in and then pray that you can find it in the US.
