cant hurt, well unless you are blindfolded when you file...I thought about using my bench grinder to knock off most of the material then smooth it out with the file. I held it up to the grinder wheel, then had a nasty mental picture and told myself, "you are nuts arent you" lol. Probably a bad idea, so i stuck with the files. I will update on this good or bad as the miles rack up

A belt sender would be nice to have for this, I think. You'd have to be careful, but the job could be done very quickly.

I put about 25 or miles on since i hit the vari with a file and i like it. I think i am going to take a bit more off the center of the vari and try working on the top a bit to hopefully get a few more mph out of it. Im going to "slope" the top end of the vari so when the belt gets up so far (past 3/4 of the way up) it will want to slide higher easier. I hope! That would suck if it ran the belt right off the vari at 60+. If it did though, i would still be happy cause it hit over 60. Then i would be trying to figure out a "variator belt stop"....

Glad it's workiong out well for you. Variator belt stop sounds like worn belts to me. It would have to move with the belt like a roller or something.

I road a bit this weekend, had to rejet the main back to an 80 because the temp dropped 30+ deg, also found out that my boost bottle works well after i took it off for awhile. I spent allot of time this weekend tuning. I noticed my "boost" line coming off the intake was leaking a bit from the line getting pushed into the bottom of my seat when the motor moved so i figured i would take it off for now. I road sat with it off and thought it was a little sluggish so i set out to fix it sunday. I ended up opening up the port i made for the intake with a drillbit, then i put it back in the intake with the hose routed different so it wouldnt hit the seat when the motor moves on the mount. I think drilling it out helped because it seems to have more "punch" now, and when i pinch the boost line it sounds even more different than before. Its like i can hear my reeds working though the carb with it pinched and it will stumble and idle rough, with it hooked up the motor sounds very"throaty" and runs smoother. I also took my airfilter off and cut a few holes in it, then wrapped it with a thin foam layer in hopes of more flow, it helped to;D. The throttle response is better than ever with this setup . Not sure if its the temp change, the rejet, opening up the airfilter and the boost bottle port, or a combo of it all but i sure am happy with it for now . Im working on getting a bigger carb next.

Keep making more and more power and next thing you know you'll flip yourself over trying to take off. Good thinking drilling the barb on the intake larger. Did you open up the oppostie end at all?

aahhh no , good thinking wise man . I totally spaced opening up the bottle end port, that should help to cause the boost bottle has the same fitting as the intake duh! I did almost fall of the back lol. I hit the brake but didnt want to loose the wheelie so i was burping the throttle and almost scraped my taillight on the road . Cool thing about stepthrough scoots you can put your butt on the front of the seat when vertical so you dont slide off the back . LOL! I know that dont paint a very nice mental picture does it?

You gotta learn to just ride it around at 12:00 all the time. Maybe install a set of pegs just for that. You would be my hero. lol

Maybe a set of wheelie bars up by the taillight, then i can just set it on them and ride on . Oh, and some windows in the floor, it gets hard to see the road at 12,oclock lol. Im thinking about putting a velocity stack in the body and routing a small flexible hose to the carb. I think that would look pretty cool and flow well also. What do you think? Heres a pic of my current setup, picture a stack in the hole were my filter is looking out.

The stack would be cool, although I'm not sure it would work quite as intended attached to a hose then the carb. I would suggest finding a flexible hose that isn't ribbed or whatever to keep air moving better. At least it will be less restrictive than the K&N. Another option would be to get a UNI or UNI knockoff filter. I had to move from a 98 to a 100 main when I added a cheap UNI clone to my scoot last week. It must do something. The UNI also muffles the intake noise just a little better than the K&N. I wonder if the V stack will act as a megaphone for intake noise? If it does, it might be a little over the top.

You got a UNI? I was checking them out on the bay. Maybe a stack isnt such a good idea on this one . After all it is a daily rider. Can you imagine getting caught in the rain with a funnel facing forward , that would suck! A open UNI wouldnt be a cup of tea but at least they can be covered. How did you deal with the rain the other day?

Thanks for the link . I was digging around last night and came up with a few for under $15. Heres one i found, look familiar? cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390051703860&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITI got caught in a hard rain once this year and it made Skeedr run like . Thankfully i only had a few blocks to go or i would have had to stop and figure something out. I could only go to 1/4 throttle, any more than that and it would water board itself . I did run a homemade foam filter for a bit and it flows allot more than the K&N knockoff i have. It looks so bad though i had to take it off. I ended up drilling a few holes in the cone filter and wrapping it in foam for now. That helped out so much i had to upjet. I guess i messed up when i oiled the knockoff filter huh? Looked like cloth, dont oil like cloth . I got real nervous, after i drilled the holes i started thinking i wouldnt get all the metal shavings out of the filter and suck some in. I bet i spent a half hour or more cleaning, shaking, blowing, sucking, checking, sounds like a bad night at a crack house . I wouldnt recommend drilling holes in a "chicken wire" airfilter.
