Bought these today. I was still using an old dried out Dunlop TT92 up front and some cheap tire on the back which I did a burnout with and is totally bald now The conti's can handle speeds up to 130km/u (80mph). I picked a wider and flatter size for the backwheel.

Seems like im going back to stock for now. The engine was rattling eventhough nothing was wrong before I took the cylinder off. I took it off again and noticed the flat top piston had a dimple on the top. Ill make pics later.
So now im back to a stock motor and maybe ill build a new watercooled engine in the winter. Probably gonna be something like a Polini evo 70 - Yasuni c20 - Mikuni TM24 kinda setup. Leaving the rest as is.

That's a bummer. You haven't even gone on your trip yet have you? The Polini Evo and C21 combo sounds nice.

I was thinking of putting the Metrakit pipe under but i don't feel like tuning the engine now just before the roadtrip and i'll loose my center stand. ATM i don't want any insecurities and possibilities that can cancel my participation in the roadtrip.

Your missing a c-clip That sucks No he's not its smeared into the side of his piston. Was that the motor you have been running or your stick bore you mentioned going to.

I hate when that happens had one do that and it weld the piston to the inside of the bore

WTF? What happened? And how are you gonna get that fixed? Well...i pushed the engine over it's limit when going full throttle down a steep road to see how fast it would go I made a video of that by the way! I think it got so hot that the piston got a little soft. The piston clips' seat got distorted and it could get out to end up between the piston and the cylinder. The upper ring locator pin also moved up in the piston. It's funny though, it didn't suffer lubrication or cooling problems as you can see in the pics below. I didn't overheat or seize it because there's no scuffing anywhere...it's just the piston failing and not being up for the job. It's difficult to see but the groove where the piston pin clip normally sits got wider and lost it's hold on the clip Also look at te upper piston ring locator. It moved up 2 mm's or so. That ring was on the verge of ending up in a port. I ended up buying a whole new cylinderkit. The damaged cylinder and piston weren't usable with the basic tools and short time available at that moment.
