I hated to do it but it had to be done! I sold the TNG Venice. I sold it to the guy that painted it at the scooter shop, His girl likes the smaller size of the Venice, so it will end up hers, or they will sell it, either way it almost paid for the Vino I picked up the other night. I rode the Venice 1 more time, and it runs great for a 50cc stock motor. Looks pretty good to, I will get a picture of it next time I am over there and post it.
So it is just like starting over again, but this time it is a Vino! I am going to wait to start tearing into it any further than I have, until I finish putting the 70cc streetrace back together.
I doubt I will take the Yamaha cases to 103cc due to their thinner cases. I will likely follow in 2TDaves footsteps and build a 103cc longcase to put under this small framed scoot. I should be able to build a sweet 70cc motor from the Yamaha cases to have as a backup for my other Vino, or to put on this Vino if the 103 don't work out for some reason.

More good news! It appears this 2002 motor has the factory trenched cases that I have read about. My 2003 vino had the angled reed block, but it was not trenched.

I also got a picture of the Venice with its new owner. It looks a lot better now. The pictures dont really do it justice, the pearl white looks great in sunlight.

I got down to business with the burr grinder this afternoon. I trimmed out the throat of my cases so the 52 mm cylinder I have would fit. I also matched up the transfers, and started trenching. I got a little crazy and cut too much near the edge of the boost port on one side, hopefully I can use some epoxy to give the base gasket something to seal against. I also broke through the wall of the transfer big time, the hole is over an inch long and about an inch wide. I thought I filled the back of the cases with epoxy, but somehow I missed doing the big half. There is plenty of meat around the crank on this set of cases, but now I am noticing the rest of the case is thin, especially around the transfers. Anyway I put some tape over the holes, and loaded it up with JB weld. Time will tell if it is gonna work.

Sweet! So the factory trenched cases are going to be 90cc? Is that with the smaller diameter crank you mentioned?

Sweet! So the factory trenched cases are going to be 90cc? Is that with the smaller diameter crank you mentioned? Sorry, but no. This thread is is screwed up because I have gone in so many different directions as usual. Currently I am working on a set of short cases from a 50cc ATV. I don't think they want to be 90cc though! LoL Right now I cant afford $300 for the autotech355 kit that would take the Vino cases to 100CC (95cc actually) I would like to do it sometime in the future, but it will have to wait.

I am done screwing with these cases. Time to start test fitting crank and cylinder. I don't have a lot of faith in this set of cases, so I am going to use a stock style 90cc 45mm stroke crank in it, and a tall 52mm cylinder. I still don't really have an exhaust to use for it, which brings up another question I have been thinking about. My 52mm cylinder has a 24mm opening for the exhaust port. What good is a pipe with a larger inlet, say like a 30mm going to do? If I were to enlarge the port on the cylinder to match the pipe better wouldn't that screw up port timings a bit?
