Come to think of it, as I sit here looking at the cases, a template and router type setup may be the best way to go for the crankshaft area too.

Heck yeah!The router/template is a great idea!!!

2strokd(Robert) recently found that some name brand motors (Yamaha & Aprillia) have very thin case walls and will not allow a 90cc+ crank to be installed.I hope you are using a "chinarelli" case set to hog out,,also some China brands have the big crank wheels stock in the 50's(Yamati & ?)..Interested in how you cut this stuff as it takes me hours to do it on a milling machine!!

I have a eurostrada rx8 that I have heard use a yamati motor. How would that affect future build plans that include a new crank if at all? I guess I'm not understanding big crank wheels. I wasn't planning on going to 90cc, I like the high revving 70 I have now but the stock crank has been a concern.

Yeah, all I have is the chinarelli stuff, looks like plenty of meat still left after I trim them up. I cant find the used crank bearings that were laying on my bench for months, probably because junk on my bench is 12" deep. So I need to order some cheap crank bearings to sacrifice for the jigs I am building. I also wish I had a junk set of cases to try out the jigs on, before I trash a good set! LoL

I am pretty sure the 50 & 70 cranks are the same diameter. Its only when you move to a 90cc that you have to clearance the cases. I have had 2 RX8 cases apart myself, and neither of them were bigger in the crank area, but I am not 100% sure they were the original motors that came on the RX8 scoots. The only RX8 I had that for sure had a yamati engine in it got stolen recently, before I had a chance to take a look inside and see. 190mech mentioned previously that some of the yamati cases were supposedly 90cc long cases, with special 50cc cylinders that had extra meat on them to be able to fit in the 90cc cases. Wouldn't it be nice to find one of those? I believe it is true because Brent found a Mexico vento long ago that was a 90cc long case. So I have been looking for one ever since.

I've known of a couple of Mexican Vento 90s that were the larger 90 bore but sold as 50s. I didn't see any difference other than the obvious in my stock 50 and Stage 6 70. Guess that means it's a normal 50. I just didn't want to order a crank and find out it wouldn't fit the case. My plan has been to get another motor to do the crank up build on so the scoot won't be down anyway bit the Yamati thing got me thinking.

Did the Yamati have any identifying marks?

That way if things don't work out, you can easily move back to the original setup. Do you have a crank in mind? I used a $139 top racing in my build, and it has been great so far. I take it to almost 10,000 regularly, and had it up to 11,000 before I got the CVT to its present state.

Did the Yamati have any identifying marks? Nothing that I know of. One of them had a CVT cover with YAMATI in big letters cast into it.

Not sure on the crank. I've looked at the stage 6 hpc but if I could save some money I'd be open to options. I know I need a large spline and large taper I think. If and when I do it I want to go to the race mkii cylinder and do some case work. I've seen 11300 rpms on the sport pro mkii that's on now with the c16 but I've got it down around 10700 now max with the cvt tune. This on the stock crank. I don't hold it there long.

The motors you are talking about with the special cylinders and cranks that will take a 45mm crank and 54mm Cylinder without mods are marked 1e40fm. My rx8 has the regular qmb in it. Not sure about my new one haven't had a chance to look yet. The FM cases measure the same as a 1e50qmf and 1e52qmg. That's my understanding at least

I'm thinking of one of those orange stuffer 41.4 cranks autotech355 sells for 110 shipped. They are small spline small taper though but I've got more stuff for those than the large large. Would be nice if there was an option for a hpc crank in standard stroke for a cheep price

The small spline wouldn't be an issue because my s6 variator came with both setups and I want to do an OR cvt on the next build anyway. I don't have a small taper flywheel though. I guess ordering one isn't a big deal with all the other stuff to be done. I'm interested in the 85 mm rods. Seems like it might be a good mix between 70 and 90.
