I have a TNG Venice and a Yamaha Vino. This is a short case for the Venice. If I like it enough I may build one for the Vino.

Ive been in favor of the low rev bigger cc street engines for awhile now myself! If you did decide to go with a pipe you would loose allot of the low-end off idle punch you have now. The CVT would need "loosened" up to let the engine rev into the power, etc.. Nothing wrong with a tuned scoot with a pipe, its just nice to see others build successful low rev street engines Yes, so with that in mind, I am looking for a muffler that will fit on the vino. The V8 style hits the side of the scoot according to the seller. Corrosion is also in the process of a similar build, and confirmed the fitment issue with the V8. I wonder if opening up a silvertone 50cc stock pipe would work, but then again it would most likely not fit either. Not sure if the silvertone pipes are all the same, but I tried 3 different 49cc exhausts on my scoot and the shorter stubbier silvertone was the worst. I'm assuming because of the volume. Like I said I don't know if they're all the same but the longer bigger 49cc exhaust worked best. By far. I will add a pic of the three I tested when I home to my computer EDIT: Here's the three 49cc exhausts I tried. The short silverstone one is on the right.

I finished enlarging the crank area on the cases, and I put the crank in with some bearings that I sanded out so they would slip fit into the case and on the crank easily. I want to be able to easily pull the engine apart while porting, and setting things up.
Next on the list is getting the cases opened up at the cylinder base area. I would rather not just hog it out freehand so I have a couple ideas for making a tool to get the job done. I am trying to resist buying the tool they sell for enlarging the base area. It is tempting and would be nice just to get the job done, but it costs $125 so resisting is not that hard!
Does anyone have any specifications for the minimum clearance you should have between the crank, and the cases?

Well, I guess I wont bother with trying the silvertone on this build. Thanks for the information. Which exhaust are you running on your 90cc?

The stock 49cc black one all the way on the left in the pic.

Ive cut them to .5mm (.020") clearance before I read the top tuners like 1mm (.040") to reduce viscous drag from fuel drop out, they run good either way..

Good to know. I was wondering about this myself. It sure is nice to have your build happening now OG.

I believe all he has left to do is find an exhaust, and his is done! I hope to have mine finished no later than the end of October.

And we have Brent putting one back together. Mine will be done before I have a scoot to put it in. I'll probably end up dropping it in the RX8 for testing and tuning unless a retro comes available.

What tool did you find for boring the cylinder mounting area? I'm not looking to spend the money, just curious.

What tool did you find for boring the cylinder mounting area? I'm not looking to spend the money, just curious. This tool is available from several places. FYI I have ordered from this store 1 time before, and they dont always send you what is in the picture. Example: I ordered 2 of the 2 stroke reed blocks because they picture a decent cage with a viton looking reed sealing surface, they sent me regular, average looking blocks that were NOT of the quality the pictured. They also have a strict no return policy. Tool

Ok. I saw something similar at partsforscooters. Is it for opening up the crank wheel area or the cylinder base. I guess I'm not seeing how it would work on the cylinder base.

It's a fly cutter bolts to cylinder studs and bores the hole out
