So when I removed the spark plug. Coolant came out! So engine out and strip down time. Crank looked okay still. So turned upside down. Oiled everything up. No marks on the cylinder or piston. Put back together. Took it out for a short run and seem okay.

So where did the coolant come from, blown head gasket, warped head, loose headbolt?

So where did the coolant come from, blown head gasket, warped head, loose headbolt? Looks like the head gasket failed.

Not really sure. Just looked thin in a couple of places.

Make sure the head and cylinder surfaces are flat and that all the head bolts get torqued properly and are not stripping out of the case. Over torquing a stud can cause the threads to crack. Cracks in the case or head can cause uneven pressure. Gaskets usually are fairly consistent. Clamping forces must be even. Something caused that gasket to fail. Check everything before you make yet another walk of shame...

Yesterday I changed over to new tyres and tubes. What a pig to get on and managed to pinch the tube so I gave up muttering curse. Today I tried again with the old tube but that had a slight air leak. Took to the tyre shop and for them to fit new tube only £18. Should have gone there before but at done one ok.

The 'experts' can save a lot of cussing and expense. I gave up exhaust work 40 years ago, and tires (tyres) about 50 years ago.

Anyone that sucessfully welds something is a creator, and has magic with metal. Sometimes however, warts are unnecessary.

This morning I found it very cold in the shed so didn't do anything other than go to the coffee shop to procrastinate about my carb isolator. It was warm there.
