Repairs and service I used to do for $10-20 now costs $1000... We have laughed at pictures of people needing a whole wheelbarrow full of cash to buy a loaf of bread in some countries. We have been amazed to see 10,000 peso/yen/whatever etc paper bills or notes. Nobody laughs anymore. It feels difficult and dangerous to carry enough cash in a wallet to pay for a decent meal and night out now. I have lived too long, I can no longer afford it, -time to die. Years ago I worked for a company that sent a lot of products to Italy. There were so many zeros on the money transactions. You had to leave one of the Aerox off the end on invoices. We're so glad when Italy joined the European currency.

Today I got creative to aeroxbud I played about with my favourite things, old crusty bike electrics.Still got a spark and brake lights now and again worked but nowt else. Checked new ignition switch and one wire away from terminal at switch and two others cracked insulation. By then back aching and fekk it time. Off with the indicators get a make shift switch as unobtainium same as throttle cable. I will put it on premix as friend has single cable that will fit plug all the lights in if they work fine if not cover lens with tape whatever and go for a daylight MOT on it. Can't be faffing to much with it. Still sorted the front brake out and new cable.

I did a valve adjustment for my Solana....only one problem, I snapped the spark plug when reassembling the thing, trying to use the recommended torque wrench specs instead of going for the ol' reliable gutentight. 8 ft-pounds is way too much apparently Luckily, it was a cleaner snap than expected and I fished the debris out. It's too cold to ride much this week anyhow, but I learned my lesson and immediately bought three replacements. Next week seems like it'll be better weather-wise.

Chinkinees translations of manuals all must be treated with pounds of salt. If something sounds dubious it probably is. There is no substitute for years of experience, gut feel, knowledge, and observation. Think twice, apply wrench once.
Check the threads in the head.

He will probably have expected you to have not only filled the motorcycle with gas, -but to have bought him a new gas can, cleaned the inevitable plastic swarf out, and filled it up also... -Children are like that.
Of course you could have used your trip time wisely and scrubbed the chrome on the entire motorcycle with aluminuminium foil and vinegar to remove the rust and then washed and waxed the mother -F***** also...
-That is what 'friends' remind you about.

Made my own exhaust gasket out of thick cardboard covered in a THICK THICK layer of high temp gasket maker. Let it sit for 20 mins then installed it and no more exhaust leak.

Made my own exhaust gasket out of thick cardboard covered in a THICK THICK layer of high temp gasket maker. Let it sit for 20 mins then installed it and no more exhaust leak. It will burn through with time. Once a leak occurs it will burn rapidly. You need to buy some exhaust gasket material from an auto parts store and use it instead of the cardboard. If the exhaust flange does not match the exhaust port you will need to correct any misalignment issues. Gasket sealing surfaces must be closely parallel with each other.
