So how did y'all know it was a 4t? I've been squinting at the pics looking for the oil cap by the fan shroud- some scoots I know are 4t and some models I google and find out that way, but he doesn't even know what it is- just TaoTao. For one, TaoTao doesn't make 2Ts to my knowledge. You can see the crankcase on the pipe side enough to tell it's a 4T. The CVT cover looks like a 4T. I asked him about the 100cc motor and mentioned that usually over 70cc it needs case work etc.. but he just said he bought it that way... I kinda figured either it was a standard big bore kit or maybe someone actually did the work... It's not a 100cc, I'd just about guarantee it. Probably a 50mm bore that everyone calls a 100cc to sell kits, but it's actually just over 80cc if it's that. With a stroker crank and 52mm kit they get nearer to 100cc. No case work needed usually for larger than the 47mm bore kits (72cc) on the 4T. They go up to about 52.4mm kits before case work has to be done. Some older models did need clearance work to fit the larger bores though.

So I found that scoot by a different name- Explorer GT-5. They put a fake tuned pipe on a 4t-that's stupid! Haha thanks guys U saved me a waste of time. I'm having a hard time finding a decent 2 stroke... found some Triton clones...

Did you see this one .. if indeed, it is two stroke. tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/mcd/4529988047.htmlI'd be wary of a dealer that advertises free to(w)ing and free oil changes on a two stroke scooter. I'd want to see a compression check to read about 115 psi or better too.

That's a good looking Triton clone. I agree with the compression test but if it's low you maybe able to deal it down enough for a 70cc cylinder.

I think the United Motors X-Peed is a close clone of the Tritons, possibly made in the same factories. It's got the aluminum wheels like the Triton, while some clones had steel wheels. It looks like it's got a fake tuned pipe, but you can see the common long case Minarelli center stand in the pic at least.

My initial take on it: It's peppy on the throttle- I'm guessing it has the 10:1 gears-just a guess. The speedo says you're doing 45mph top speed- way optimistic! I'd guess 35 but will GPS it. It feels a little strange when turning- either the tires need more air or the forks need tightening- the CVT cover seems huge! It's 5 years newer than my Baccio was, so it has all the emissions stuff on it. Smaller tires I can't stretch my legs out like I could on the other one and the seat is rock hard. I'll get used to it. I wish I could say I was thrilled to have a new scoot but I really liked my old one and sure in heck didn't plan to have to re-buy a scoot this weekend... I feel I paid too much- $575- but as a motivated buyer I was against the ropes as I pretty much needed a scoot right away. Hopefully just 1 day biking it to work and if all goes well it'll have a plate on it tomorrow (Monday) evening. Thanks all!

I bought a new Triton seat back when I started my build. The damn thing is hard and hurts my skinny ass after a few miles. I road the Zuma I'm redoing and that seat is cushy. I've ordered a new Zuma seat for it and may try to shape and use the foam from it on my RX8.
