Wow, never really thought I'd have any reason to post to this build thread again... I got a call at 12:15 AM. Weird. This time of night it must be important so I answered it. It was a local police detective saying that he thought he may have found my scoot! He asked me a few questions and from the sounds of things it was pretty trashed, but it matched my VIN. He asked me if it was too late to come take a look- and I hopped in the car. When I walked up to the scoot I (vaguely) recognized it. Recognized it as a TaoTao EVO 150 anyways. I immediately noticed the 150cc four stroke motor, and after more investigating of what was there- the whole front plastics were missing, there were headlights seemingly duct taped to the frame, the seat was torn off and sitting sideways, etc. After a little more looking I slowly realized that although it was the same body style etc. of my scoot- I spent many, MANY hours with it lol, it just wasn't my scooter. I showed the officers where the "real" VIN was and popped off the small rectangular cover to reveal it etched into the frame. It wasn't mine. The plastic leg sheild body panel with the ID plate riveted to it however, is mine. So after a little waiting around the detective notified me that they were getting some "additional info" from the perp and it sounded like they were on their way to "some ladies house" where more scooters are located... A little ray of hope maybe? It's 1:30 am now and I told him to call me in the morning if he did locate my scoot. This just may get interesting! Memories.....

Sounds like they may have caught someone responsible for many thefts. A scooter theft ring. Why is Arlo Guthrie and Alice's Restaurant in my head. Lol. Hope you get it back Niz. Don't litter.

I was contacted by a Pasco County officer yesterday and informed that they had located my scooter and it was at Blue diamond Towing Co. They want $140 plus $40 every day the scooter sits there. I haven't seen the scoot yet so I have no idea what shape it is in. Pretty bad I'm guessing since it was found in the woods. I wonder if the BBK and pipe are still on it... Can't say this adds any respect to law officers for me. The officer had a few options of retaining the scooter but chose the one that costs the victim the most. Probably getting kickbacks from the tow co. I'm pretty strapped for cash right now as I have my $$ tied up into 3 different scoots waiting for parts waiting for them to sell etc. I hate the system. I may never see this scoot again although I still have the title and key. I'm worried that I will be held liable for any additional costs that don't get covered by the sale of this scoot at auction.

I'd just have to go look at it if it was me. I wouldn't worry about the additional costs. I had the same thing happen when a motorcycle I owned got stolen and trashed.

I've worked for a few towing company's. Go look at it and explain to them what happened. Try to work a deal. They don't want the Hassel of disposing with it may be human and work with you. It isn't valuable so if they can recover some of their coast without Hassel you have achance to get it back cheep Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

Could have been much worse, There are still a little life in it. You gonna scrap it for parts?

I'm sure it's gotta suck to essentially pay $226 to have someone joy ride, beat on, and bang up your scooter. At least they left your custom "NIZ" badges on it so it was easy to ID.

Could have been much worse, There are still a little life in it. You gonna scrap it for parts? Yes, it absolutely could've been much worse! I was actually surprised when I saw the scoot that it is still pretty much intact. I was picturing a bare skeleton with the rear engine missing and cables hanging everywhere haha. I kinda justified paying the $226 by thinking of this scoot as a flip scoot. I have the title for it and with another $100 or so I can probably find another non-titled parts scoot to use for the body panels and probably still almost double my $$ while keeping the BBK and exhaust...
