Could have been much worse, There are still a little life in it. You gonna scrap it for parts? Yes, it absolutely could've been much worse! I was actually surprised when I saw the scoot that it is still pretty much intact. I was picturing a bare skeleton with the rear engine missing and cables hanging everywhere haha. I kinda justified paying the $226 by thinking of this scoot as a flip scoot. I have the title for it and with another $100 or so I can probably find another non-titled parts scoot to use for the body panels and probably still almost double my $$ while keeping the BBK and exhaust... I love those rims and its getting harder to fine a rear one with 18 splines. Keep me in mind if you wind up with a spare set etc.

I'm sure it's gotta suck to essentially pay $226 to have someone joy ride, beat on, and bang up your scooter. At least they left your custom "NIZ" badges on it so it was easy to ID. I can't believe they left those on there! I'm sure they didn't realize that it was the first half of the owners last name lol. (Niznik) My license plate is still there too! I'm still upset about the fees I had to pay as they just seem exhorbitant (sp?) when a person is simply trying to get their property back. Like I explained to the Tow owner; it's not like I was doing something illegal or a DUI or something to get this scoot towed; I did nothing wrong and it was stolen from me. Yes- if someone gets their vehicle towed from a DUI or something like that charge them as much as possible- they were endangering my family and yours- but to soak a theft victim as much as possible just seems wrong. I would've been happy with even a minor discount based on the circumstances but I'm beating a dead horse now. Since I had written this scoot off as a total loss now I just view it as a flip scoot; I would've gladly paid $226 for it with title and BBK and exhaust to cherry pick.

These days I'd rather shell out 100 bux for a parts scoot with usable panels than to try to work and paint these panels back into shape so depending on what I find for a parts scoot I might have something for ya!

It does seem ridiculous. It's happened to a few members here at least, for one reason or another. Even when there's an accident, it's kinda messed up when the tow fees can be 10-20% of a new scooter's cost, even with no storage fees. I suppose the bright side is that the govt doesn't actually do the towing. The way they run businesses they'd have to charge you 10-20% of a new car's cost to tow a scooter and not lose money.

Lol Yes- can u imagine how much a Govt. tow would cost!! When I was all fired up about the fees involved I called every place imaginable having to do with the sheriffs office and one officer- I think he may have been a detective- alluded to the fact that the officer on scene had better options than to have it towed at my expense. For example, since it was criminal theft he should've had the scoot brought back to the evidence yard where they might find some evidence to try to catch the criminal(s) and it would've been free for me to claim with some paperwork. Oh well, just shows how good an investment a good chain or cable is. Chalk it up to school of hard knocks tuition PAID!

Back in the late 80 's i had a Honda cruiser stolen. Got the notice it was going to auction never notified it was recovered. Spent 400 to get it back only to discover the clutch was smoked and motor was knocking. I feel for you

I pulled the engine today just to see what kind of shape it's in... I guess I never realized the center stand is on the frame of this scoot and not on the engine... She's not pretty. Looks like the thieves seized the engine- not too bad though- definitely savable. I'm guessing they didn't premix the fuel. It looks as though this was sitting in the woods for quite some time. There were leaves and debris everywhere and inside the CVT cover is a rusty corroded mess. I see that they also punched out the ignition then cut the wires and bypassed it with pieces of wire. When you twist the two ends together the ignition power led lights up lol.

Look like it was out there a few days after it disappeared. What a waste. Did they ever tell you how they found it. Were they walking a perp through the woods with a shovel and saw it....lol
