I added a base gasket w/fresh top end and new unfiled piston. My exhaust duration is 179, Transfer 125... Piston lines up beautifully at TDC and BDC.
I'm going to keep it here for now as 190mech said it would be a nice "torque build" and I have no experience with 90cc, but torque is on the top of my list as to what I want out of this motor... still haven't decided on a pipe yet.

The only squish style head I have is the one that was on the Vento Zip. It's badly damaged. I know it's hard to tell from a pic, but is thing worth saving? I believe I could file most of the dents out of it, but the one (needle bearing?) hole is quite deep and would still be there even after smoothing.

If you shave the head you'll raise your compression & move the valves, sparkplug, & piston closer together ( ie shave too much stuff starts hitting). So long as you can get a smooth flat surface w/o anything hitting would be first. Them going it will still handle the upping if compression. Idk what kinda pressure these blocks can handle. Mine is about 206. Which I'd impressive i wouldn't think sumtin that small could hold that much, but ehh, dynamite comes in small packages....

Dynamite is what I'm hoping for! From the looks of where the piston came up to the deck w/the cylinder head off, I think I'll have a wide squish w/stock parts. I'll run the stock stuff for now until I need to tighten up the squish and go for dynamite.

If you plan on using that 50cc head on the 90 build,it'll need a good bit of machine work.squish band needs to be opened up to the cylinder diameter, then the bowl will need to be widened and deepened..Lotta work!I think the stock 90 head should be run till you can find a cheap squish type head...

I got the 90cc swapped in and running- poorly. There is something very wrong with this motor. It sounds really bad and the variator is wobbling around quite a bit on the shaft as if the crank is bent/untrue. I didn't get a lot of time to troubleshoot as it was very late, but at one point I actually saw sparks coming from the starter clutch area. Everything seemed nice and smooth while turning the motor over by hand up on the stand, but I think the crank may be shot by the sounds that are coming from deep within this motor. Best I can describe is that it just seems like it is under load even though it starts and idles nicely. I'll have more time to investigate tonight to see whether or not this is going to turn into a case splitting build... They say things happen for a reason- and I find it very compelling that I just happen to find crank, bearings, and seals on Craigslist of all places for the not so common motor I'm installing... Time to really did into this thing! Everything else with the install went without a hitch save for one motor mount bearing that fought be all the way. Starter, CDI, and Electrics plugged right in like it was made for it.

If that starter clutch is hung or rubbing something that alone will make an engine seem as if it is coming apart and run like its loaded down with the brakes dragging.

I'm digging into it a bit (hard to do when the Lions are on lol) I found one of the tiny rollers from the starter clutch inside the CVT cover and the tiny spring is nowhere to be found... I messed with this starter clutch a bit during the first start of the 90cc as it was acting up and missing some of those tiny pins. I found the pins on the workbench with the 90cc stuff and put it back together... Obviously there's something jacked with that starter clutch but there's no noticable marks from rubbing etc. I ended up stealing the starter clutch out of the Zip parts bike. Three motors here and somehow they're all large spline. Parts bike saved my butt again. May have been the best 50 scooter bucks I've spent yet! Strangely, the spring loaded roller pins (idk know the technical name for these) were considerably larger in the Zip 49cc starter clutch than the ones in the 90cc Adly. Much smoother now but I'm running back and forth into the house watching Monday Night Football so I don't know if I'm out of the woods yet...
