For such a small piece it sure is being a really big pain in my @$$! But it's almost done. Oh and here's a handy hint, take the bushings out before you start welding. . .

Makes me want to learn to weld. My buddy and I were both saying the same thing in the truck today. I have no illusions of being anything near that good but the freedom to create and build would be awesome! Nice rig in the pic btw. I'm in Fl. so hard tails are more practical with it being so flat.

That's a Cannondale Jekyll. I'm in Reno right in the middle of the Sierra Mountain range. Lots of good place to scare yourself, especially when you give me something with 6 inches of travel, cause I'll wanna see if I squeeze 7 out of it. Actually wire feed welding better known as MIG (metal inert gas) is pretty simple. I just got one of those HF MIG welders & this is the first thing I've welded with it. It's not like other machines I'm use to but for $89 it's more than surpassed my expectations. I think maybe if I get some E71 wire it mite do a lil better. I'm impressed with it so far, we'll see how durable it is with the next phase I'm on now.

Now that that pesky lil motor mount is out of the way it's time for the frame itself. I've braced the frame then cut out all the cross members in order to narrow the frame. I'm shooting for about 2" all the way through. I'm also considering shortening the head tube do to the fact that I want to run triple trees and by narrowing the it will raise the stance a little. I think I'm gonna have to bring it back down a tad to run the tt forks.

Looking good man! I dont think ive seen so much frame work outside the dragstrip. Still never seen one narrowed. Cool! Tuned in man! BTW, are you really going to use RTV for bushings lol? Thats gonna squeeze right out! www.partsforscooters.com/164-8I used a bolt, nut, socket and washers to press my bushings in and out. Those were in the engine tho, not sure about the mount.. Looking good man!

Looking man! Actually the RTV is holding & it's only temporary for mock up. That one bushing didn't wanna give, but the other 3 didn't put up too much of a fight once I got the scooter tool out. I used a dremal with a wire wheel to clean then up and a very light coating of lithium geese to hopefully keep them from seizing before I replace them. If anything I'm trying my damnedest to get the gremlins out and keep Murphy at bay. No cow bell.
