So beings that I no longer have access to a steel shop I'm thinking of this like field work. WTF am thinking?! I've never had to mod a frame in the field. Well I don't own a press or a torch so I'm using some of my trust worthy fitter's friends. A few turnbuckles, ratchet strap, (come a long is overkill for a itty bitty scooter frame) level, hammer, grinder, welder, a F-ing Let's get some attitude, & a tape measure.

Damn this squirmy lil 12lbs of tubing. Man I wish I had a table to clamp this lil brat down to. Hey my neighbors not home and her patio table & chairs are right there. I'll move em into the shade for her. She won't mind if I weld on her wood table, will she? Ah, who cares she's a B!t©#.

That's right kids, safety first. Always have a fire extinguisher on hand whenever welding or grinding.

Interesting, but I'm just hoping I don't see you on Judge Judy over the neighbor's furniture.

I got it down from about 11" to roughly 9-3/8". I had so much pressure on the lil SOB that it broke my ratchet strap along with the port side forward cross braces tacks and damn near took off about 3 of my fingures when it let loose. After that the FLCS fought me all the way. What I wouldn't've giving for a torch and a steel plate work table.

I also moved the rear cross brace/motor mount back 2-1/2".

See, this is why I'm glad I didn't get into welding, or I'd be trying to squeeze a V8 into my Kia right now. *sigh*
Good work dude. You're far braver than I.
PS. SMOKING IS BAD FOR YA! *lights cig*

Well I ran out of the .030 wire so a buddy of mine had a 10lbs/4.5kg .035/.9mm E71T-11 spool he let me use. The lil HF 90amp welder ran it ok on high on the tubing, but when I attempted to attach the 20ga. sheet metal it didn't like running that big of wire. Looks like I'm gonna learn something about bondo! So if any of ya have any experience using bondo, please chime in and let me know a thing or two...

I'm terrible with actual Bondo for some reason, but when I did my Mustang's engine bay I used Rage Gold (a different brand filler) and really didn't have much trouble with it. I'd imagine if you are good with filler Bondo is just fine though.
