Seems like fixing that e-start will save you some headaches. A less expensive Dremel(off brand) will work also. Check reviews. Will this do ? Yep. But like others have said use eye protection. When you put the flathead in the slot give it a few med taps with a hammer. Then turn. If it wants to strip start over. WD-40 should help.

Has anyone really successfully used an Easy-Out? Please exclude the ones you heard about from a friend who heard it from their cousin who heard it from ... Thanks! If I knew how to quote by pushing buttons, I would but I don't so here it is the old fashioned way: FrankenMech "Removing broken fasteners is an essential skill for working on scooters." Maybe that's a chapter title for the Essential Scooter Book? I tried an extractor screw on a screw of a carburtor and on a screw of the blue wire, in order to bridle the scooter, from the clutch assembly to the cdi, and it fails both times. The part of the extractor to remove the crew just drills, like the part of the extractor which drills. Perhaps those extractors works when the screw is not tighten with an impact driver.

best of luck hanson stuff is brittle and snaps, I use their taps sometimes for really small stuff, but they tend to snap too.

is the hole on center?? that's critical as you can keep drilling out the broken bolt with bigger and bigger bits, until its weak enough to shred out.but you haeto make sure you don't go too deep, but I cant remember, but doesn't that hole go all the way through?

the easy out snapped? if it did, you need to do a bunch of disassembly and take the part to a shop with a tap disintegration machine where they use an arc to burn it out

There is hard metal down in that hole. Your next option is taking it apart and taking the case to a shop with an EDM machine.

Your next option is taking it apart and taking the case to a shop with an EDM machine. it might be able to be removed with a pencil grinder and a bunch of diamond bits, or drilling around it, but that takes skill and patience, and you had better know what you are doing, that cheap easy out, just made the job 10 times harder

Know anybody near you that is handy with a MIG? Weld a nut through it's center onto that broken fastener. The heat will help a lot, a turn of the welded nut and it should come right out.

I know it doesnt sound too promising, this is exactly what I did in a turbine housing. I snapped the bolt, then snapped an easy out in it. It got it out. Maybe just luck

I've never had luck with easy outs. I would try the welding a nut method, short of taking it to a machine shop.
