pull the exhaust off and run it for a bit. see if it runs longer with no pipe on it. that was the symptoms mine had after i got it running when i first bought it. it would be hard to start and once it ran it would have decent power and hit 35-40 mph but after about 3 miles would lose power fairly quickly then finally die. start back up after it cooled some and 10-15 mph back to the house tops. i initially burned the exhaust its an old 2 stroke trick that will atleast let you see if you need a new exhaust. if it runs better after trying to clean it and runs longer its time for a new pipe. aftermarket can be had for 100 bux or less and sometimes you can find a deal on a used pipe and get a really nice pipe and not feel guilty. i have a leo vince zx-r pipe that is an unrestricted one if you end up needing one. its old and its ugly but she still works and i will most likely never use it again. Went through this with a 1e40qmb atv. It drove me nuts. Burning out the pipe helped me some, it no longer stalled, just bogged. I eventually drilled some holes through the clogged silencer's internal baffles, problem solved. That exhaust wasn't exactly the best, basically a 2' straight pipe and a 8" muffler/silencer on the end.

Why is dampening a 2T intake pulse desirable? Not trolling, I'm genuinely interested.

Umm.. where are you doing this work at? I spot a couch in the background LOL
I can neither confirm/deny tearing down a small engine in my living room in the past. If it DID happen, it MAY have been really cold outside.
I enjoy the level of enthusiasm you have for the build!

They're on eBay as "boost bottles". The eBay descriptions don't seem to have the sales marketing nonsense though.
I think it's snake oil, someone is just looking to make a profit. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Choke plate and screw were missing in the Carb, went into the engine! There's now a new engine on the atv, but it's idling high, and Carb adjustment is having no effect. I ran out of time yesterday, but I'm thinking there's an air leak causing the current condition.

My ears are ringing this morning, should have worn ear plugs last night. We went to Pittsburgh to see Chevelle, 3 Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin. Not my absolute favorite music but hey, my girlfriend loves them and who am I to turn down a concert of any kind. We were in the pit, so I got a good look at all the fancy basses I can't afford.
They did put on a good show, brought kids up on stage. They mentioned the common "rock is dead" misconception. The place was packed with people of all ages from all walks of life. Proof positive that rock is not dead. Evolving sure, no where near dead.

Thanks 90gtvert. This forum and it's member's have been an immense help. Heck, I don't even own a scoot (yet), and everyone has been more than welcoming. It's not much but I donated $20.
I was in a bad place when I first joined (think chemo and surgery). This place took my mind off of being sick, and got me outside wrenching on my daughter's mina-clone atv.

I somewhat liked Sublime's ripoff of that, though it was mixed with a song of their own "ball and chain". Ball and Chain off of "Jah Won't Pay the Bills" might be one of my favorites by them. It's simple, drum and bass driven and Brad really sounds into it. youtu.be/LgAplN_iRMc

youtu.be/7j4J81-HTAsIt's certainly not for everybody. I've been playing bass guitar for about 15 years and I like some of the quirky stuff Primus made. The basses tapped notes almost remind me of a chicken "bawking".

My Troy-bilt weed eater kept bogging no matter how much I cleaned the Carb, or where I put the adjustment screws. Finally noticed a tiny crack in a fuel line. Hmm $12 for fuel line at Walmart, or $12 for a new Carb and line off of eBay...
Yeah, I went the eBay route, it fired right up. Just got done revving that thing like a madman while decimating all the weeds in my yard.

Thanks Vert, I appreciate the reply. From what I've found, it does seem to be really common in pit bikes. It literally is making no compression, I'm told they were riding it and it just stopped.
They cleaned the Carb after looking in it and finding a lot of junk and corrosion. My thought is maybe something restricted the carbs fuel and it leaned out and melted down. I guess I'll find out soon enough, though I can't get to it until the 20th.

Is any body at all familiar with this engine? From what I can tell its based on a Honda design. I'm trying to see why my daughter's friend's atv has no compression. 107cc is cast on the cylinder, the engine tag says xye152fmh. It's a 4 stroke.
Any input is appreciated. I plan on verifying cam and crank timing, checking out the valve adjustment and if necessary, pull the cyl.
