Thanks everybody, that's what I was wanting to know. Gonna get started on it Friday. Got everything stripped this morning, down to frame.

I've got a parts bike that I've about used everything usable on it. After getting my current riding one up to par, I'm wanting to get this one going. 2009 Taotao 49cc four stroke.
It's pretty much just a frame, crank case, transmission. I don't need lights, horn, speedometer, turn signals, starter, etc. Just for it to simply run. What all can I do away with for that?
Can I just run the stator/pickup to the cdi to the coil

What kind of carb is the new one/brand etc?

Did you get the 47MM head with the kit? If you're still using the stock head the compression will be pretty high, and hard to start. I learned this after running the stock head for a week then going to the 47MM head, which has a larger combustion chamber, my starter doesn't struggle and the motor starts up only after a few cranks. I will say, it definitely lost power with the larger head. Hopefully I can make it up with some tuning. Interesting to see if it fires with starter fluid. Have you pulled the plug and ensured it's firing strong and correctly? A new head and valves came with the kit. As far as if it's factory size, I'm not sure. The description was pretty vague. When you said you noticed a loss of power after putting larger head on, is that common? If so, do you adjust for the loss with variator, rollers, clutch etc.

We're glad you joined up.
That's certainly a nice corner of the world you found yourself living in. Even in the dead of winter there's still enough green to make your landscape less bleak than most of ours. And this is coming from someone who prefers winter over summer. But I'd prefer your winter to mine.
And I imagine it's great scooter country. Thanks, I've lived here all my life. Visited a lot of places but it's hard to beat this neck of the woods. Excellent scooter country. There's enough quiet two lane back roads to ride for days and not retrace the same spots. Came over to Gatlinburg yesterday for a little mini get away. It would be somewhere to put on your list to visit if you get a chance. You've got all the benefits of the mountains and small town feel like at home but enough things to do and see to keep you busy.

The take off power is a dream now. I'm 6'6 240lbs, it struggled a bit before to get going. Not anymore. Does have a lengthy time from the ten mph to twenty, twenty five mph range. Hoping the rollers, variator and clutch upgrades will help. Cdi box might've got some issues during this whole process. Didn't put out spark above half throttle. Swapped it for a stock one. Solved that issue, but the rev limiter is kicking in with it. Still need to upgrade the jets in carb, maybe get an air fuel gauge if it shows to be that big of deal.
I've rambled a lot here this week, but hope that if someone else has trouble they might benefit from reading. This is hands down the most informative site regarding these machines.

Thank you to everyone on here that's responded and all. It's a big help sometimes just getting others input and thoughts. Several times I've highly considered just getting a small two stroke engine to put on the bicycle and being done with this scooter

Was almost five this morning before I got home, didn't get to get starting fluid or compression tester. Just decided to start putting on new parts one by one. Stator was first. Out of no where it cranked. Seriously thought I was dreaming.
The stator that was on it ohms out about the same as the new one. Really have no idea what the difference was.
Regardless, it's running, sounds great, throttle response is day and night difference. It's got some smoke coming out of exhaust...I'm hoping that's normal. I've never changed anything like this. Question now I guess is how long of a break in period,, what should I be doing (keep rpms below a certain point/or ride it just like I normally would etc etc), and is there anything I should keep an eye on for x amount of miles.

Haven't tried starting fluid yet. I put the exhaust on before leaving for work. I've got a new carb on the shelf that was suppose to have bigger jets. I'll grab a can of starting food fluid on way home. If it fires then I'll pull the new carb apart when I get home and see what size is in it. What do most people run after upgrading far as jet size goes

No, the exhaust is not on it. I ran it for a year or so without it. Yes, it was loud, sometimes annoying but never had any running issues without it. The manifold studs were broke is the reason. With the new head I can put it on if some would think that is the problem. I planned on it, but wanted to get it running before anything. Again, was trying to keep everything identical to before install main reason why it's not on yet

I did. I've tried a new vacuum operated one and also bypassed it. If anything I learned how to post a video. Here's the link, hopefully this helps youtu.be/fef6U2PHlJo

Although I've checked it half dozen times, I came out to verify one more after typing that. Didn't move anything just took valve cover off. Tried to crank it, it's showing life now. Trying to crank with drill it's firing every couple of turns but not good enough to keep it going when I pull drill off. I've took a video of it but don't know how to post it. I can email it out something if that would help someone get a better idea if what's going on. I only run 93 in it, the fuels about a week and a half old.

The larger hole in the center is facing up with the two smaller holes lined with side of head with piston at tdc and flywheel "T" at the line on case. I agree, burnt too many things up. That's what's led me here.

Also, the new parts I have:
Stator and pick up Cdi Regulator/rectifier Plug wire Variator Rollers Clutch spring and shoe springs Kevlar belt
If I can get it running, I'm hoping it'll be a pretty noticeable increase in performance all around.
