Ive been following this thread.
A few things stick out to me.
1. You say you have spare parts, are these old carbs or new? If theyre old i would at least change the float parts and possibly polish the seat to make sure youre really getting a good seal. (I realize its unlikely to have 3 bad carbs but still)
2. I havent heard you say youve inspected float level. (I realize its unlikely to have 3 bad carbs but still)
3. I would eliminate the vacume fuel shutoff and replace it with a manual one. But thats just me.
4. Someone mentioned intake valve lash. It sounds plausable. Did you re check it?
Or, and this is kinda wild (and its similar to the intake valve lash theory posted somewhere above) But your cam has drastically shifted. Causing you to suck air into your exhaust and out your intake.
A simple test would be to remove the exhast and carb and crank it. Intake should only draw air in and exhaust should only expell it.
Edit: saw on the first post where you said you got suction too.

Tested my warm up enrichment. Extends a quarter inch and retracts a quarter inch.

Truth. Which is why i am suspicious of the choke. Ill test the old one eventually.
Since new though (on both of my identical scooters) ive felt like ive had to turn the screw out a little far.
One thing i didnt considet was air leaks. Ill spray some carb cleaner at the manifold when i get it running again. Parts should be here wednesday.
That is an excellent section of this forum. I think i read all relavent sections of it before i actually recieved the scooter.

I think i backed it out so far that neither the spring or oring were dojng any good. Its always been out a little far, and i had to back it out a lot further to get it to start. Which makes my choke suspect, another reason i bought a whole carb. I havent texted my old one yet but i will in the next couple of days.
Along with the carb i bought a couple slightly larger pilot jets so i dont have to back the screw out as far.

Now you have the old carb for spare parts. Thats the point! And in reality, One day, I'll be ordering from pfs and be closeish to the $100 free shipping threshold. And I'll order a spring and idle mixture screw so I'll have a complete spare carb lol.

Confirmed i lost my idle mixture screw. Went to order from pfs to purchase a new screw and spring, with those parts and a couple other things my order would be like $25 and $15 shipping. They had a free shipping with a $50 purchase promo code for christmas, so i bought a whole carb instead (which just barely pushed me over $50). Baisically, for $10 more than i would have paid otherwise i got a whole carb.

I orderd this set -> KAWELL Rear View Side Mirror Round Bar End Convex Hawk-eye Motorcycle Mirror For 7/8" Handle Bars Fits Most Harley Davidsons Suzuki Honda Kawasaki Cruisers www.amazon.com/dp/B002GTKAHQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_eQCnAbRTVTBNDInstall on the left went fine, but the throttle side doesnt have much engagement in the tube, maybe 1/2 an inch. The handlebar didnt extend all the way to the end of the grip. I could have cut the grip more but ive got big hands and didnt want to sacrifice space i didnt need to. It seems to stay well enough, it turns a little on the bar when i adjust the mirror but it seems to stay. I went on a 30 mile ride with them, Theyre way better than the stock mirrors. I see way more with one mirror than with the stock two. My only complaint is they dont fold, its not a big deal, but if they break im gonna buy a set that folds. I didnt take very good pictures of them so i wont post them.

I went for a ride to get some scoot tag pics. Wouldnt start at the beginning of the ride, richened the idle mixture up and got it to start. Shortly into my ride i lost the ability to idle withouth adding throttle. Stopped and tried to adjust idle mixture again and the screw felt funny... it wasnt there. But it was able to idle with my finger over the hole. Luckily, i had recently added tape to my onboard tool kit. I taped up the hole and then went on riding. Ride went fine other than that. I was cold by the end though. I did get to see some nice southern snow too!

Heres your weigh station. Next up, a picture of your scoot with a dilapidated building.

Your float is most likely stuck. Giving you extra fuel covering up your lean problem. Also, unless i misunderstood the reason for the carb changes. It sounds to me like you should be swapping main jets (to larger ones to run richer) and not carbs. Excellent guide to carb tuning -> www.49ccscoot.com/faq/carbtune.htmlP.s. If i had an engine that pinged, expecially from a lean condition, i wouldnt run it until I Richened up the mixture.

Most of my local shops are filled with either arrogent or shady types that i really dont wanna give my money to... 😯
Example. Years ago when i was buying my first bike the vibe was that i was being a pest by being in the store.
Edit: ive worked retail sales before, so i know how to and how not to piss off sales associates.

Thanks for the link vert! I went out and did it on the left handle just now. Ive orderd a set of mirrors on amazon and pulled the factory ones off (dont worry its too cold here for me to ride for the next week). Next question. On the right side. Will i have to cut the throttle sleeve too? Or are they usually open at the end? Its a taotao. This is the part im referring to, the picture isnt really clear to me.

scooterted you can modify your current hand grips aka cut a hole in the ends for the bar ends to fit into the handlebars. Not too difficult to do, but easy to mess up if you're trying to keep it "clean" Thats my plan. Ill probably try to slip my grip off and measure my bar first. Maybe try to figure a way to cut it square with my bandsaw. Sorry islandscrub. Hope i didnt jack your thread.

Theyre mostly made for bicyles without a grip throttle. I think most people who use them do it on the left side only. Ive considered it myself. I was just gonna pick a decent looking set on amazon. My main concern is rearward visibility. How much do those little side mirrors show? Edit: i didnt know there were anything but clamp on mirrors. These might work for both sides(depending on size). They go in the inside of the handlebar. Still might have to replace the grip though. www.partsforscooters.com/108-55-Street-Wise-Universal-3-Inch-Bar-End-Mirrors
