They send out an instruction sheet with the unit. Basically a hole needs to be drilled in the airhorn (intake side) of the carb or in the tube connecting to the air filter. The jet is threaded 1/4-28TPI so you can drill and tap a hole or you can just glue it into place. The jet is connected to the fuel bowl either from the drain or with a barb that is supplied into a tapped hole. I drilled and tapped a hole in my carb for the jet and connected the tubing to the fuel bowl drain valve. It may be better to drill and tap the carb bowl for the barb fitting to avoid sediment and water that travels to the bottom of the carb bowl. I haven't had any trouble with the jet though. I just open it about 1/4 turn in winter. Super glue is fuel proof. How long have you been using this? And with zero issues i assume? Does any fiel drip from it at shutoff?

Cancerous Rust like that is always shocking to me. Im from the south. We dont use salt like that, when it "snows" the place shuts down and thousands of people are stranded on the highway.

Youll likely have to unseal or replace your stock carb. Idle mixture is pretty simple to adjust with a small screw on the side. Your main jet (mixture for most everything else) is slightly more involved but not much, youll adjust that by swapping out main jets of different sizes. The larger thr number stamped on the jet the richer it will be. For example, my taotao takes an m4 size jet. From the factory it came with a #73 i settled on a #76 in 70 degree weather. It rides fine for me in 50 degree weather. But your experience may be different. This is an excellent write up with lots of other relative links at the bottom of the page. www.49ccscoot.com/faq/carbtune.htmlIf you search 90GTVert on youtube he has some really excellent videos on unsealing his carb and tuning his taotao in general.

Unless that battery charger can put a load on it to test it it wont tell you if the battery is good or not. Only a load tester will.
A battery can be fully charged but stillnot be capable of delivering power when needed.
Most major auto part storea will test a battery for free.

That really sounds like a battery issue. You said you checked your battery. What did you do to check it? Its best to load test it. Most major auto part stores will test them for free.
Other things could be bad chassis grounds to your battery or bad connection to your starter/battery, or even the wires to the starter could be bad.
Slow cranking, then stopping, and a clicking sound (thats usually your solenoid clicking, cars do this too) are symptoms of a bad or weak battery. Dont assume that since it reads 12v+ with a meter that its good.
Edit: try jump starting it with a car or another scooter and see what it does. *supposedly with a scooter you should not have the car engine running that is jumping it off, so leave the vehicle youre jumping it off with not running.*

You are correct that the rear pulley is not opening enough. No, dont cut it. If you increase spring strength without increasing roller/slider weight, you will get a higher engine rpm and a lower vehicle speed.
Tune your variator, or put your stock spring in.
Edit: Even if you put the stock spring back you may still have to tune your variator because the spring will have more preload with that thicker no twist ball bearing base.

Looks like it was a good turnout. Im sure he (the vet) enjoyed that.
I like your videos. Ive watche most of them on your youtube channel.
P.s. you sound a lot like me, being an introvert and all. Ive been to whole weekend events and not really talked to anyone at all.

Thanks. We rented scoots in myrtle beach like two years ago and we never really got over them.

I use an impact on mine. Not really a fan of the whacking method with the big adjustable wrench, but I know a lot of people like it. Im glad im not the only one doing this. Theres not many threads on that nut. Im really gentle tightening that nut. Ill order a spare next time i purchase parta.

I bought my wife and i two taotaos a month or two ago. Ive been lurking here since. Lots of good information. Things have been going well with the scooters. Theyre almost tuned. I overestemated weight when i went from rollers to sliders. So i rpm is a little lower than i think is ideal.
Scoot tag looks pretty fun too.
