i pulled the bowl off the carb today and tried to adjust the float height but theres no real way to adjust the damn thing, and its still spitting a little gas out when i shut it off. i did get a uni open filter on it today that seemed to help but the sputterings still there. it won't hardly idle either. i'm up to a 105 jet but it seems to be running rich, and a 92, 95, 98, 100, and 102 seem lean. i got pretty frustrated with it so i closed the toolbox and came inside before i got pissed and broke something beyond repairable. its not making much sense to me.

Could it maybe be a timing issue?

I had an open air filter on mine and fuel bubbled out of the filter because the pilot was too rich.

I swapped it out to a 95 jet and it seems to be idling better but its raining out so i haven't had a chance to take it up the road yet. But like i said its idling better so i'm thinking i had it jetted to high. still can't get the fuel over flow after shutoff figured out though.

Ok. I'm not extremely concerned about it until it quits raining though.

I don't think it has anything to do with the timing Reign, it fires right up and has no characteristics of the typical timing problems. I beleive i've just gotta get the carb tuned in correctly.

Just a story about timing. A friend installed a small cam in a 350 chevy. It started fine, idled and ran fine until 4 grand then fell on its face. We check carb pump dist. and it was all right right. Finally pulled the timing chain cover off and it and it was off 3 teeth. I was surprised it didnt bend any vavles.

Going to a leaner MJ will affect the idle (as you have noticed), but it still could be lean at WOT. All of that wet weather will cause it to run richer than it normally should. That is why I thought you might need to get a leaner pilot. Probably you know this already, but I like to try and reach down and partially cover the airfilter as I open it up to WOT if it is not running well. If it improves, I am know that I'm too lean. If it gets worse I know that I'm too rich. That way I know that I am going in the right direction if I can't tell by sound or symptoms. Good luck though, I just ordered that carb in a 19mm

i considered the 19 but i'm planning on swapping out the 70cc thats in it now for a 90-100cc and didn't think the 19mm would be enough for it. has anyone ever tried to run a 4t carb on one of these 2t's with premix? thats something i've been thinking about but not sure how it would work out or if there would be any gain to it at all. just thinking out loud.

With enough time and jetting,it may work, but I dont think its worth the effort...

I saw a clear 2hp difference between a 21mm delly and a 28mm. OK, the 28 is a bit extreme and a 24mm would probably achieve the same effect.
Usually you can get away with a 4T carb if you've got a reed inducted engine.

Probably not something I really want to mess around with, just thinking out loud out of frustration with the new dello. I've got other projects out there to work on so I'm gonna put this on the back burner for now and come back to it after I've had a little time away from it.

I finally have my garage put back in order enough to get a little work done on the "Hustler" this evening. I had to change out the little 16oz. gas can i fitted up under the seat due to gas eating thru the seal (I suspected it would happen) for a regular tank. I went to cut a hole in the fairing for the fill nozzle and the whole thing cracked and to make a long story short, it doesn't have a sleek molded rear fairing anymore. I drilled out the vacuum petcock to make it run at all times and put a manual shutoff valve in line, yes i cleaned the shavings out before hooking any lines up. I got it plumbed and changed the 92 main jet out for an 88, started it up and it idled for about 1 1/2 or so died and wouldn't restart. As you can imagine I was pretty frustrated, so before i got mad and broke something i put the tools up and came in the house. I'll go back out for more punishment and frustration tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Sorry to hear it's being a pain. Is anyone having good luck with their scoot lately?
