Ok folks, I bought the ugly duckling of scooters tonight. A 2006 E-ton Beamer III, will post some pics this weekend when I've got more time, that's truly beat up. It doesn't run, rear brakes don't work, headlights all broke up, both tires are JUNK, all the plastics are scratched up or cracked, and both brake handles are bent. Its a great platform for a one of a kind build. Just got it home so no time to start on it cause I've gotta get a shower and go to bed for work at 4am tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on the teardown and buildup as it progresses.

Well now I've got a small dillema. I've got my hands on a 2005 vento triton (maybe)? It has NO plastics at all except the black handle bar piece, the wiring harness has been hacked to no end, no ignition, the seat and the left side controls are missing. Its also missing the cylinder, head, piston, carb, exhaust, and airbox from the motor. Its got a VE1E40QMB case. So my problem is do I build the beamer or do I build the vento? What I've thought about doing is using the vento frame and modding it to accept the beamer plastics on just cause the frame looks sturdier than the beamer frame. What are your thoughts?

That frame swap sounds like a lot of trouble for what's probably a minimal improvement. I have messed with a couple of Etons and they are decent scoots. I'd probably consider not getting the Triton or swapping the wheels from the Triton and whatever else looks like an improvement onto the Eton.

Well I done some measuring today and according to the tape measure the frame to the beamers tweeked. I was comparing the two frames side by side and it looks like there's only 3 brackets I'd have to swap and weld back on to use the vento frame and then swap out the wiring harness also. I'm not sure how important fitting all the plastics back on is to me yet but 2 of the brackets are for the floorboard so I'll deffinetly have to swap them out. The third bracket would be for the front piece. Then I've still got the spare mina case, forks and other spare parts.

Here's my stripped down Triton. It's not a pretty scoot, but it's by far the best rider I've owned. No fairings to get in the way when you work on stuff. Welding footpegs on instead of the stock floorboard let me put them wherever I wanted them to fit me. No plastics to break when I crash it (already tested lol). Aftermarket driving lights are way better than the stock setup. The disadvantages are basically that it wont be as aerodynamic and it's more open to the elements. Doesn't matter much in rain, you'll get wet anyway, but there isn't much to shield you from the cold. It does take a bit of work though. I had to rework my wring harness a bit on top of the metal fab stuff. Sounds like you are OK with that stuff though. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=builds&action=display&thread=436&page=1

Well I decided to scrap the beamer idea and run with the 2005 vento frame. Still not 100% sure what it started as but I got some xpeed plastics minus the front cover and piece where the ignition goes from 2strokd. Now I'm trying to decide if I wanna make the xpeed plastics fit or do I go with a naked scoot? Either way I think I'm gonna make a drag scooter out of it. 12mm mina motor should be a pretty strong platform.
