I thought when you first posted what you thought was your final drive ratio that it sounded way too tall. I think 13.54 gearing is pretty close to my Derbi's. IMO a 10-15% (numerical) reduction is about right for an unmodded street big block. Any more and I doubt the perhaps 8 or so rwhp would pull it on the calm flat.

Nice work. That is looking pretty sweet. I think it might get even meaner if you lowered the front a bit and put a shorter rear shock on it or changed the shock's mount position to lower it some. An aftermarket adjustable shock would probably be a nice thing to have for a racer. I really like mine. I'm 300lbs and if I stiffen it up it won't move when I sit on it.

well its funny you mention that brent, the pics dont show it because i haven't finished it yet, but i'm working on a way to lower the front by about 2-3". i just put the shock back on it so i could get the placement of the mount location correct. i've actually been thinking about putting a shock on it from a vino or something like that to drop the rear also, or just replace the shock totally with a steel tube to get the drop that i want. i mean since its only meant for the track it doesn't have to have the same comfort as my daily rider, right. i'll keep ya posted on the progress, but i've gotta make up my mind how i'm gonna do it first. then i'll post some more pics.

A solid strut would work fine for a dragster. I was jst suggesting a shock because they usually look better and you are turning this thing into such a nice ride. But then, from the other stuff you've shown us, I'm sure you'll build something cool.

well thanks for the encouraging words everyone, and i am proud of the way it's turning out so far so a solid strut may not be the way i go. but i just want to make sure its rigid enough so that i don't lose any power in the flexing of the motor. i know i wouldn't lose much but when your talking 360lbs on this thing, i need to do everything i can to put as much power to the rear wheel as i can.

You'r gonna need a shock. As cool as this is turning out, you're gonna want to ride it and show it off at "Bike Night."

i've got an idea about what i'm gonna do for a shock in the rear, but i've gotta figure out how to compress the spring and find out if i can disassemble the whole rear assembly first. if i can then its gonna have a 4" drop in the rear and then drop the front 3". i did get the mounts all welded in solid today so its sitting on its own now, no more jackstands (kinda). now the sidestands to long, makes it lean enough it wants to fall over to the right. i've gotta shorten the side stand or remove it and come up with something else, not sure which way i'm gonna go yet. when i get these minor obstacles figured out and corrected i'll post the pics.

Excellent work! That is one of the coolest Tritons I've ever seen. ;D Are you still planning to have a front fairing or is this it for bady work? If you are adding one, it ain't gonna fit the front fender (not that you prob wanted that anyway)... but I bet it will look badass with the front tire tucked up in there.

I've seen some Euro ones where they "shorty" the front fairing. Just loose a lot of the bottom. Looks cool with a little half faring.
And i'm with Brent, gonna be one of the hottest Tritons out there.
