I don't think the 13.54 will be all that bad with a (I'm guessing) 130/70/12 rear tire. I've got 11.125 gears in my Tritons and they don't feel like deep gears at all with the big tire. With the little tire on the Venus, the 11 gears feel pretty good for takeoff, but even then I could use a little more for a pure 1/8 mile ride. I know you're a big guy like me, so if you are going to race it I think the deep gears will pay off. Either way, don't go below that 12.47 IMO unless you plan to trap 60MPH+.

well after some more investigation i can either run 13.54:1 or a 13.23:1 without using the press to change gears. i believe i'm gonna run the 13.23:1 and see how that works out.

That sounds good. As long as you've got all the tools you need to swap them, keep a spare gasket on hand and it won't be that big of a deal if you do need to change before race day.

well i've been making my own gaskets for stuff like that for awhile now. i just put my Polini bbk kit on my motor and had 1.43mm squish with the gasket so i removed the gasket and used the copper permatex stuff and brought it down to .93mm. now i'm gonna let it set up over night and do a leakdown test on it.

Yeah, use the shortest gears you have man. You wont run out! And if you did, we would just figure a way to squeeze more rrrr,s out of it. I would go with even shorter gears with a 70 if i did it again...

well i ended up putting it back together with the 13.54 gears. i'm just waiting for it to warm up a little to go back out there and do some more work. i got my temp sensor installed and mounted the koso tach on the bars. now i'm waiting for my carb to get here from tx and i'll finish building the motor.

i was doing a leak down test on my motor and found a leak in the case seam, so now i've gotta get that sealed. and i just heard from Reign and my headlight has been shipped so i can get that installed and close up that gaping hole in the front fairing.

Great work man. That looks badass, just like the rest of the scoot. The Stage6 clutch sounds like a sweet piece.

Those S6 clutches are great when you have to change the springs, you can just release the tension and lift them out.
