The muriatic acid may remove the nikasil also..Oven cleaner is milder and should clean it up with a few applications..

I'm thinking a dual ring setup would be better? Does the single ring "racing piston" make that much of a difference?? I would expect some gains at high revs, losses at low revs vs a dual ring. Dual is better for daily use with longer service intervals. Actual gains/losses using the same kit with just different ring count, I couldn't tell you.

I'm reading that Birdman hates his Airsal lol. I still haven't decided if I'm selling this scoot w/pipe and bbk or putting it back to stock and keeping the goodies... decisions decisions

I had good luck with that cylinder until I fried it running the scoot with a broken fan. Performance parts use to be even harder to come by in the states and it seemed Airsal, Arreche and Technigas were the norm for upgrades here. A lot of people ran the combination. I doubt that you'll get anymore money for the scoot with the parts so I'd keep them. You could list it with the parts as options.

Be easier to flip if it was quicker..That cylinder is a little worn anyway...Take the cash and buy something new and shiny...

I think I may do a combination of both ideas- pretty much what Moofus suggested, keep it around for a bit to play on but with a healthy price tag- maybe $800 with goodies... I would normally keep the goodies but my next scoot will most likely be 90cc anyway. If it doesn't sell after awhile I'll put it to stock 49cc and drop the price and keep the goodies... Only thing about keeping it for an extended time to play on is I'd eventually want to plate it if I want to leave my 'hood lol.

I would get it running great price it at 1000 while you ride the crap out of it. If a fool and their money don't part ways and you decide to sell put it to stock and drop the price. If you decide to keep it call it profit and leave a 4 sale sign on it with the high price. Some day you will blow a 4t away and they will chase you down so they can join the light side of scooters lol. Ps if you drive that at night the lights suck (18w) but you van swap them for 35w halogens and the way the lights work on that (they light all the time but you have to switch to hi or low to get them bright) they won't draw much power under most use Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

Just wondering does compression have any impact on fuel grade (octane)?

Just wondering does compression have any impact on fuel grade (octane)? Absolutely. Brent (90GTVert) has many write-ups about this issue. Lower octane could be used with less compression... High compression + 87= spark knock or (pre?)detonation which is bad news. Many here are more knowledgable than me on the subject but I have experienced it before...

Got the piston and cylinder installed and this weak battery has a hard time starting it. Started on 3rd kick! The piston is just below exhaust port at BDC and maybe <1mm below deck at TDC so I went with copper spray only no head gasket. Hope this compression isn't too high! Itching to drive it (easy for break-in ) but we're carving pumpkins tonight. Family first! Haven't checked squish yet...

Damn he got you those parts fast. I thought he was sending me a crank? No biggie. I think mine is holding up so far. But I eventually will want to do a complete rebuild of this thing at some point I'd imagine. Which may involve me looking for a slight upgrade on the crank anyways. *fingers crossed* Dude. You're like the Bob Vila of Scoots now. BRAINSTORM!!! "Hi, I'm Niz. Welcome to, This Old Scoot!"
