I flogged on it right out the gate. I'll give it a hone. I think the piston would be okay but I'll probably order on anyway.

Here's a pic if the boost port and skirt cutout. I think it's a good idea to widen the cutout in the skirt but should I go until it matches the port on the cases?

I'm cleaning up this cylinder and notice how the exhaust gasket with the C16 was misaligned with the cylinder. The exhaust port is oval shapes. Wth. I was using studs so the pipe had to be centered.

Any of you big block gurus have any thoughts on the exhaust port or boost port cutout on the skirt above? I'd like to get the cylinder ready to go on tonight. Should have a 21mm Dell here tomorrow along with a pipe for testing.

It should be fine to match the cylinder skirt width up to the boost port and I'd match the exhaust port and flange up better. If the C16 has a separate header flange, you can install it again and trace it to double check before cutting. Blend the exhaust port in a bit.

UPS just delivered the front end for Niz. Thanks brother! I opened up the cutout for the boost port and the exhaust port and I'm putting a couple of coats of hi temp black on the cylinder.

What, no Motoseal? I have to get some black. Not sure what goop I'm going to put where. Though I think the head gasket may just get some copper spray, once I check squish of course. So shaving the skirt won't take away any of the integrity of the piston I take it?

Jhobe, Spray paint for the cylinder. They rust quick otherwise. Don't go cutting on your skirts just yet young Jedi. Just meet girls that already have short ones on. Motoseal is fine for your head and cylinder.

The front end I got from Niz has 26mm fork tubes and a 10mm axel where the RX8 has 31mm tubes and a 12mm axel. I sent a message to the guy I got the suspension and brakes for the RX8 from to see if he had 26mm tubes. Tomorrow I'll pull the stems apart and check compatibility between the Venus and the front end Niz sent.

Motoseal is fine for your head and cylinder. You mean spray copper. I thought about getting some high temp paint, wasn't really thinking of the cylinder but now you've got me thinking what the hell I just may! I still am thinking of spraying the pipe down, even though I kind of like it's burn in color towards the header, it still can use some protection. Plus the splattering of oil on it will drive me nuts. First I need to clean off the melted fender plastic I think from the bend in the back lol. I was actually talking about the skirt in YOUR setup, not mine. I was just curious, I know I'm not at that level. Oh and if you happen to know any nice skirts roaming about in need, send em my way.
