I just recently bought a TaoTao GT5 and I have big plans to do a lot of modifying. I recently bought a boat load of things for it, 100cc big bore kit (not installed), new digital speedometer (on the way) remote engine start with alarm (not installed) new side mirrors (on the way) tint for the taillight and front blinkers (not installed) and many other things. I got the bike a few days ago and I have painted the front fender Black and plan on painting the bottom of the bike black also. I will take pictures and post them soon. What im trying to do right now is apply 3m gloss black film (on the way) over the front lights, to mimic a street bike like a Yamaha if that make sense. While I do that I am trying to purchase Blue Angel Eyes and im not really sure what size to buy, but i figure I will need to take off the front and do some measurements. If I would guess I think I would probably go with 90mm. If anyone knows exactly the size I would need, please let me know to save me the time. Ive never done this before and I really wonder what Ill need to install these Angel Eyes and I was hoping someone out there can help me out, I have lots of ideas, extra time, and funds! I want to do some cool stuff! And I am here to take you all on a journey and post photos of all modifications done. I think this will be blast! I just joined tonight, Id like to give a shout out to all the Scooter Kings out there for making this all possible.. Whats Up 90GTVert! Lets get this party started!

Thank You And Im Happy To Be Here, I made it to the Big Time Brother! Yeah, I looked into that, now, and even before, and I notice there is only videos on the install on Cars. Im very new to this and im curious what this job will call for, rewiring, plug N play? Eh I just have no idea where to even start and what materials will be needed.

The assembly/disassembly process for a lot of the headlights should be similar to what you'll experience. I'm of no real use there since I generally leave headlights together.
The wiring should be easy enough. First you need to know how you want them to operate. Do you want them on all of the time when the key is on or to come on just with the headlights or would you like to control them with a switch so you can decide when they're on?

All the time, when the key is on only.

You can probably tap into an existing accessory for that to save some wiring. You should be using your headlights (high beams) for daytime riding though, even with angel eyes. You can connect the ground wires from each of the halos to a good frame ground or tap into one of the ground wires in the area. Usually up front you can find a spot where other accessories like the regulator/rectifier ground to the frame so you could put both ground wires into a ring terminal together, strip the ends then twist them together and crimp in just like you were crimping one larger wire. Then attach that to the ground point bolt.
On the + side you can tie both leads from the lights together as well to simplify things. Then you just have to decide where to connect to power. You can find ignition switched 12V+ batt connections running up to gauges and at the ignition switch. If you have a test light or a multimeter it's easy to tell what's what. Tapping into an ignition switched 12V+ source would illuminate them as soon as the key is on. Another option would be to tap into the AC wiring going to the headlights, but you'd need to find the power going to the high/low beam switch. If you just tap into one of the (usually blue & light blue) wires to the bulbs the angel eyes would only light with either the high or low beam. Tapping into headlight power will mean the LEDs are powered by AC from the stator so they will not be on when the engine is off, just like the headlights. They may also flicker at idle because power is low. Incandescent bulbs will glow dim, but LEDs flicker.

Awesome Feedback! It is almost 7AM and I am without sleep so im a bit brain dead right now lol Right now im wondering what lights on that bike are high beams hahaha I have 2sets of lights. I do want the Angel Eyes in the bottom set of bigger lights, I do know that. I dont know much, but I do know that I really need to get some sleep and read over your reply more when I wake up because at this point im very confused. Im pretty sure you hit it on the head though and I think that should cover what needs to be done. I do also wonder what would be best LED or Incandescent? Id also like to not have to unscrew all the screws for the front of the bike to get at the lights to determine the size of Halos (Angel Eyes) needed and if you could tell me or tell me a better way to find out the size I will need will be much appreciated! Thats a bit much to ask I know, but it would be appreciated

Without taking it apart you're left with your best guess on the diameter needed unless someone else has had one apart. I think the front plastic body panels will be easy compared to getting the headlight assembly itself apart. Those are usually glued together and have clips as well and you can break something trying to get it apart.
Just look at the lights to know which is the high and which is the low. If you switch to one and the blue indicator on the dash comes on, that's the high beam. Aim the scoot at a wall and flip the switch back and forth if you have no indicator and the ones higher up on the wall are high beams. How you wire them to come on is your preference. I would be partial to the idea of a switch and using battery power. Reason being you could use them with the scoot off if you just wanted to show off and you could turn them off if you don't want/need them on for whatever reason. Red or blue lights are often frowned upon by the law because of their resemblance to police lights. No way I'd install either of those colors without a switch to turn them off, but that's your call. You could also include a switch and still power them by AC from the stator or ignition switched power. The wiring is not that difficult for any of them, but of course adding more components will add a little more effort. I still think the headlight assembly itself is the biggest obstacle though.
Regarding LED vs incandescent, I'd go LED for accent lights like these. They use a lot less power and are usually quite bright to look at. LEDs also provide bery pure colors... like if you get white LEDs they're not yellow at all or if you get blue they're usually a brilliant blue. I'm not even sure if you could get these lights in anything but LED.

Just woke up and I must say, Sounds like a bigger job than I thought! I was hoping the headlight assembly would easily come apart and it might, but your right, not likely. Ya know, I did not even give it any thought about the color of the Halos (Angel Eyes) I did not know the Blue Color could be a problem with Law Enforcement, I thought it was totally legal, and it might be? At this point I have no idea. So I seen these kits on Amazon where as it comes with a remote control where you can press a button and choose a variety of different colors and I was curious if it was possible to use with what im trying to accomplish. Heres the link: www.amazon.com/Texenon-RGB-Halo-90-MM/dp/B00NAMVWDY/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2GDMFIX8YIJBAThe Texenon LED Halos feature a wireless color selection module with 15 different EXCITING COLORS to choose from. The high quality construction means you get a consistent color output, regardless of which LED setting you decide to show off. Also, if you or anyone out there would like a sample of what im trying to do here feel free to check out this YouTube video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHRMw01a_TI

I think the only safe color will be white. Maybe amber since running lights can be amber up front, but I'm not sure about that. You may get away with it, but AFAIK red and blue lights aren't legal in any state because they are reserved for law enforcement. About the only time you can add red lights is on the rear as tail/brake lights. If using any color but white, I think it's in your best interest to have a switch. They should be legal if you are parked off of the roadway, but not while driving.

I don't see why you couldn't install one like that. Guessing any of 'em have a controller box of some sort that will connect to the halos and to power. That should be ran on DC power from the batt, not AC like the headlights. Looks like the remote will provide on/off as well so a switch wouldn't be needed.
