The old gas in the carb made some deposit in it clogging up and gumming up the passages ways.
Remember this: A clean carb is a happy carb.

Thanks Niz... I guess I better stock up on Crankshafts huh I weigh approx 140 so maybe ill get up and go hahaha Have you seen videos on Youtube with those guys from the UK and such? They really know theyre scooters, they do some cool stuff to their bikes. They also got them going pretty quick where they are riding wheelies too. Thats what im shooting for, Im hoping for big things lol! Wish I had a friend in the area that knew theyre scoots, im kinda lost when it comes to most things, but with all the DIY Videos and forums such as this I should be in good hands. Live And Learn Brother, thats my plan. Pretty much anyone on youtube that's going fast and doing wheelies is riding a 2 stroke. My 96cc 2t pulls wheelies and hums rights along at 60 mph at 7500 RPM's! A scoot that just stalls out when u give it throttle (that worked fine b4 with the same setup) makes me think the main jet could be clogged. When the fuel evaporates it leaves behind all sorts of fun gummy stuff that'll need to be cleaned out!

Gotchyas! Thanks Guys Yeah I was thinking I would just need to stick the spray nozzle in the carb without taking anything apart but as always things just cannot be easy for Mr Matt lol Shyt, I was hoping to be able to take it for a ride tonight but I'll have to wait for this carb cleaner to arrive. Im not sure how to empty the gas but dont worry ill look it up and find out. Im sure you guys will let me know but if not dont worry about it, ill figure it out. I havnt done much to this Scoot bcus I plan on moving from Utah to Wendover Nevada and figured id wait and do it there while I have the time. Not much out there but a casino and I dont gamble so I was saving this project for when I have the time and bored to death, bcus I will be. Bought this Scoot specifically for that place because its a small town and the Scoot would be perfect to commute without taking the car when its not needed. hahaha should be fun, looking forward to installing the bb kit and really just doing everything I planned.

So, I just checked things out and the Carb is quite easy to get to on my scooter. What I did is just pop the seat/trunk and there was a cover with one screw holding it down. I unscrewed it and took the cover off and walaa.. The Carb.
Do I need to empty the gas tank before I unhook and clean the carb? IMO I think the gas is fine, 6 months old yes but so is the gas I have stored. Both are sealed in the gas tanks and I dont see any moisture that could of got in so should be fine, Right?
I understand "now" if you are going to store a scooter you need to empty the gas or it will Gum up the Carb.. I know that now, but 6 months ago had no idea and I thought it would be fine. Let this be a lesson to those who read this and not know, bedda empty that gas if you dont plan on riding your scoot!
Now I know, No Doubt About It, that is exactly why it shuts down when I give it gas. Couldnt possibly be anything else. Well.. Lets hope not.

The ethanol in the gas actually draws moisture. The change in temperature will cause condensation to build up in your tank or gas can and guess what: water in your carb!!! I use Seafoam in all of my gas. It keeps your gas fresh up to a year and keeps the fuel system clean. Cheap insurance, just 1 oz to a gallon. $6 and change at Walmart for a 16 oz can.

Awesome.. I mean the Seafoam idea, thank you for that, good to know brother. Yep.. I can see condensation build up, its hot in that garage, I forgot about that. I should probably empty the gas tank Sea Foam SF-16 Yes? Whats the easiest way to empty my gas tank?

If you want it to be clean, you need to remove it from the scooter.Do it right the first time and don't cut corners. If it is a metal tank, you probably have rust in there. If you do not get it out,it will get into your carb. Dump it out, make sure it is dry and throw a hand full of bbs in the tank and shake it like hell. Rinse the tank with a little gas and repeat until the gas is clear then reassemble everything.

Oh, the best way to keep the rust from coming back is to keep the tank full of treated gas. That way the moisture does not come in contact with the metal.

No need to buy specialty tools just to drain your gas tank. Pull the fuel line off the carb, suck on the vac line if you have a vacuum operated petcock and use hemos or vise grips or whatever to pinch the vac line shut which will keep the petcock open so the tank can drain into an old bucket or gas can or whatever. Is the tank all rusty inside?? I use muriatic acid sloshed around inside the tank to clean it out (vinegar will o the same thing but slower) then rinse thoroughly with fuel. The whole process of draining the fuel, cleaning the tank, and re-filling can be done in about 30 minutes...

I dont think the hose is long enough to drain the gas in a bucket unless I take the whole seat off so I thought id just buy a siphon.. Am I missing something? lol cmon guys I never did this before.
PS. I checked for rust with a flashlight, I dont see anything, looks spotless. I also did not notice any separation in the gas where you would see any water, looks fine. I was only thinking of emptying the gas to be safe but if I was to guess the only issue is the gas gummin up the carb from sitting for months. That "Seafoam" is a great idea though, and will be PRIORITY for me as I wont be riding this scooter often. Wish I knew this before to save me this weeks headache.
