Oh yeah, the kick start assembly has been removed but i don't think that would be an issue with this at all, but of course i may be wrong..

If he took all the shims out, then it might be that the variator nut stops when it gets to the splines and can't take up all the slack. You can order a new star key from Scootercraft if that is also broken. I believe that the crank on that is 16mm and if so then order the CPI one under the Motoforce section. It's $3.

Yeah, definitely replace that key. Also, get the belt down inside the rear pulley and slack in the front when you tighten the nut so you can be sure you aren't just tightening against the belt and not actually getting as tight as it needs to be. Might wanna inspect the threads on the nut and crank as well. Perhaps a dab of blue thread locker for piece of mind.

Thanks guys, I seen it was different than mine for sure. .. the front end looked like others i seen. (headlight shape anyway) That thing only has 2200 kms on it. .. ROUGH LIFE.. david says that was the po.. I dont think trhe cdi is unrestricted either.. says on the flats he gets about 30-35 but hauls downhill..(didnt see any shoulders on the drive boss)

That giant car battery might be restricting the top speed. lol You shoulda seen it if there were an extra washer used as a restrictor in the front pulley. Maybe make sure it's in tune and not rev limited. It should be capable of a little more than 30-35 on flats stock with the average rider.

The cvt cover even looks like a tritons but says "mondial" On this piece here, are there suppose to be "teeth" like on the star key? I looked at scooter craft and it was smooth but this looks like crap, like its been stripped out.. Maybe this was caused by the star key being broke and the nut being to loose?.. I seen the star key has the teeth but wasnt sure aboout this outer pulley... Do the vento's have 15*12 rollers?(i know this is some sort of clone ) these look smaller than my 16*13..... Maybe the "key" is the only piece needed

Yeah Larry the key has teeth on it not the fan, and it does take 15x12 rollers as long as its a stock vari.

Thanks for the reply jason... That outer pulley looks "wallered" out to me, told dude he should just order a new one.. I think the "shims" have been taken out. The pulley "wobbles" back and forth but of course the star key is broke in pieces. Is that all that holds it tight?..

Yep sure is, and I'd definitely put some washers or a spacer in there to help keep the nut from bottoming out on the splines. It could get pricey and ugly if it bottoms out to many times.

Good morning guys... Jason may have the info on this. The guy that had "fixed" this scoot does not have a good rep around town. I just want to make sure the belt is correct and the rollers.. This belt is a bando 788 17 30 IDK what the oem rollers are but these are 5.1g's What do these scoots get derescricted?. David says he only gets 30-35mph.. (oem contra, fly springs). The drive boss has been changed but i havent looked at the cdi, these are different than my kymcos also.(i get 45+ on a kymco derescricted) Guess this is my 1st look at a mina... Thanks for any input.....

That is the correct belt for that one. Measure the length and see how wide it is. Any thinner than 15mm os and it will affect top end. The weights seem a little heavy, try a set of 4,s or even better a set of 4.5g D.P sliders will put that puppy right about were it needs to be IMO. The springs arent gonna really help a stocker out much IMO. Unless they are shot anyway. Maybe a set of stiffer clutch springs might help on take off.?. I havent seen any mina restricted at the CDI yet. As far as rev limiters anyway. How is it at 35mph? Is it winding up pretty high, or does it sound like there is more in it? That does sound slow even for a stock one. Did he ever get the proper battery? That car unit is like an extra 30lbs. Hows the tire pressure? The simplest thing can make a huge difference! I bet it goes 2-5 mph faster with the right battery and a new sticker! ;D

You may also want to check the exhaust for a restrictor washer Larry.

Mostly reiterating what Robert said, but 4g is stock on most of the 2T Tritons. The belt should be 788 17 28 Bando stock, but 788 17 30 is fine. Prob no point in messing with the contra just yet. Clutch springs should aid takeoff a little, but they aren't gonna do anything for speed. Some of the Tritons had a restrictor washer in the variator, but even then I think they were capable of better than 35MPH. I was 285lbs when I got my first Triton and I could do 40 sitting up, but mine came unrestricted. Trans wise, it would do 50MPH tucked down for long enough or with a little wind assistance. lol I don't think any of them came with exhaust or other engine related restrictions or limited CDIs. It's hard to say with Chinese stuff though.
