Hey brent, I went and tried your idea with the snorkel...... When i stick my finger in the snorkel hole, the rpms drop hard and wants to die, Can flutter the throttle and rev it tho. Mix screw is all the way IN, whille doing this. It doesn't want to run if mix screw is out any. It'll run but the revs go thru the roof

So restricting air degrades idle and improves above idle. It sounds like it's rich on the pilot jet and maybe lean on the main jet and/or needle setting.

Hey there, thanks for the reply on this... it has a 22.5pj 70mj. The needle is actually close to being down. If i raise the needle all the way it wont even hit. I tried looking up the jets but of course i wasnt sure which they were..(all those carb styles i guess...lol).. I wouldnt even think it would run with the mix screw all the way in, I was thinking that would be an air leak since the mix is cut off, but if you twist out, rpm's slingslot..

Since it's rich on the pilot jet and you've got it turned all the way in, try turning it out some if possible. See how it does like that. The mix screw controls air on these carbs, so out = more air. If it's acting crazy with RPM surging or taking off, then you need to check for leaks thoroughly.

Good morning guys. David had bought a cpl gaskets for me to install..... Well, i take the head off and see a "hole"... I am going to ASSUME that NO piston is suppose to have a "hole","pit" in them, much less these mina engines.. Its pretty dead on with the plug, center of piston...(think it's a pit rather than an actuall hole)
If thats correct, would THAT keep this scoot from running correct?.. i did notice that the head gasket seemed to leak, the reason i was changing it.. If that's not suppose to be there, then i guess he has other issues besides an air leak, correct? Thanks guys for any input again on this dreadful thing....

If it's a pit it shouldn't prevent you from getting it in tune. If it's a hole the piston needs to be replaced before you do anything else. Some pistons have a little flat spot or indentation dead center of the crown stock, but not usually much of a recess. Deformation of the piston would mean it probably got really hot. I'm sure this has been covered somewhere in the thread already, but make sure the plug is not too hot. Maybe an 8 series, 7 max.

Here is a pic of the "hole", more hole than a indintion for sure

Well, i went and replaced all the gaskets on this thing, resealed everything... Finally got her started, played with carb a bit and she seems to run decent. Hit around 42-44mph i think.(idk if speedo off bad or not).. I'm thinking it's rich, it smokes alot more than my kymco..needle is in next to the last setting with a 70mj, 22.5pj... Seems sluggish? at off idle, but it runs, i was able to ride it down the rd. too... :nana: SOOOOo, i put it back together and left it alone before something else happens.... Started right up again this a.m..(you would think david woulda came that evening an rode it home but i havent seen him...) Hopefully i wont need this thread much longer...unless he starts sinking some cash in it.
