Hey guys.. check this out... Recleaned carb, filled bowl with mix gas, reinstalled, started right up... It was idling high, wheel spinnin fast. I am leaving it alone till it warms up. Ran for about 5-6 min just fine(cept for the high idle)... It started dying, gave a touch of gas, it died. Started RIGHT back up to idle, gave gas, died again. Like it wasnt getting enough gas.. This intake looks identical but with the carb on, i could swear it's tilted a hair more than before... Any idea on what's out?.. guess the float may be wrong somehow.... i hope, i really dont want to buy him a carb.. Of course now it wont fire, imma take bowl off to see if about empty like it was this a.m..(could it be buring the float bowl fuel, then die? why would that be?

It's me again guys... did it again, started right up.. The mj says it's a 70.. Idle or up to 1/4 throttle works, if you go over a 1/4 it bogs down to point of dying...I put a cone shape filter and no filter on to see if any different, all the same.. float? jet?
Those brass washers either came from the idle, mix screw or under the mj... The only 2 holes they'd fit....

does it with about any throttle now that it is warm.... Since i put mix gas in the bowl, could it be a LACK of oil going through the carb?.. the mix screw is at 1 turn out, the idle is around 3 turns out... hasnt died since i twisted the float again but the throttle will kill it... :help: Any ideas from here?

Another quick thought... The mj does not fit flush. When it's tightened down, you can see a hair of the "shaft".... Since it's not a perfect fit, could it be a different one?... Does anybody have a 70 mj in a oem carb? It's still idling right now.. could the mj be to small and causing the bog/die out past 1/4 throttle?... It is a very tiny hole....

I have seen 70 mains. I don't think the fact that you can see a touch of the threads is anything to worry about. The float looks OK. If it idles find and up to 1/4 throttle is fine, the idle mixture and setting as well as the pilot jet and starter circuit should be fine. Above 1/4 throttle you would be looking at the throttle valve (slide), needle, and main jet. If it were a fuel supply problem, you should be able to rev it when the bowl is full at least. If that's a solid green wire, it's a ground. Looks like it was spliced into a black wire, which should also be a ground. There are wiring diagrams for tow different years of Tritons here that may be of some use. Judging by the switch, that one might be more similar to the earlier model diagram. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=resources&action=display&thread=340

Hey brent, THANK YOU for the reply.... ok, if i need to look there, this pic is the top of the carb.. Does this cable look normal to you? To me, it seems the adjuster gets in the way of the seat.. the throttle cable doent just slllliiide in like the zx, i had to hold it right to get bolts to line up... So, if a 70 has been in them, then that's probably not it then huh?.. What the hell is wrong with my grasper of this scooot stuff? ?

Throttle looks normal from what I can tell. If there's any doubt, pull it apart and take your time reassembling it to be certain it's correct.

I stand corrected, this mikuni carb has an adjustable needle.. this needle is in the middle slot..(5 slot positions, i'm in the midde).. that sound right.... This is causing the obsessed love for scooters to dwindle away alot quicker than i want. i have a scoot that's not running because im doing this scoot, to many days like this anymore.. cant get this simple dam carb

I guess the wire was camera shy?
It can definitely be frustrating. If it's bugging you that much, probably just as well off to let them take it elsewhere. That's one prob with working on other people's scoots, if it frustrates you, you usually don't have time to let it sit and come back to it when you please.

On the pin switch in the pic(where it shows this lone wire).. The other side of the plug has 1 green wire that loops back in the plug.... THE ONLY wire in this 9 pin plug, just loops. it is looped to a black and brown wire.. does anybody else have just 1 wire looping?

Just went out to look at this green wire that was cut... brent says is a ground since solid, says the black is a ground.... i placed a piece of wire on the "green" wire, touched that black wire, popped fuse.....(can see the green and black in the pic)
