well I just got my internet back on today so I have not been here in a while either. I agree about the biggest piece of junk i have ever bought thing. My motor heated up so bad that the plastic melted to the head and the cylinder and piston are scraped as well. So now I need a stator, Piston, Rings, and cylinder bore. I will just stick with my 50cc for now. I dont know how scrappy dog scooters has a good name selling junk motors and not backing them up. My scooter idled great as well and would run like total crap with a little burst of power every now and then. Oh by the way the piston cylinder and crank were well coated in oil so it was not like I ran it lean.

Bill, did Scrappy every reimburse you? Were you able to return it? *Update* I was trying to fix my problem of no spark so I ordered a new CDI and Coil. Replaced those and when I was turning on the scooter the inline fuse blew... Replaced it and it blew again, so now I am in the process of tracing a short. *Edit* Fuse problem is solved, but still no spark. * New CDI * New Coil What else is correlated to spark? The stator? If so the stator is as new as the motor I just bought. I JUST WANNA RIDE THE DAMN THING ALREADY!!! I mean I have a real bike, but this would be fun if it ever got running

The stator that came with my new engine a couple years back was not compatable with my electrical...plugs matched, but it blew my lights out, swapped with old stator all was good.

Well, my old stator is hidden under a welded nut, so i have to get that out first to even see if the old stator is salvageable. Brent your trouble shooting thread is epic thanks once again! I will surely donate once I get some extra money! Currently I am stuck on step 11. Need to borrow some feeler gauges from car friends to verify.

Did I miss something? Why is the flywheel nut welded on? I would be very upset if the shop did that. Once it's off, you're going to need to run a die over the crank to repair the threads and get a new nut.

No, you didn't miss anything. That was off the original motor as soon as I saw that I knew rebuilding it was out of the question thats why I went with the scrappydog motor assuming it was bolt in and ready to go...

LOL, I do not envy you the joy of getting to that stator. If you are checking the gap, a standard business card is about the right thickness.

you should be able to chisel most of that weld off i would think they shouldnt have been able to get it hot enough to get good penetration on the crank without melting the nut away and what doesnt chip off have at with a dremmel

No they never reimbursed me. they told me that If I found the exact problem then they would fix that but I could not return the motor. Being as though I can not afford to send it to a shop (even the shop couldnt fix it in your case) And the motor doesnt run. That ends my trouble shooting. It is now a paper weight on my bench at work. On the plus side after messing with that thing for so long and it running so bad my old 50cc seems like a rocket ship.

^ Well that sucks, so I assume it's a lost cause for you? Do you want to start a thread to warn others not to buy the POS motor? I read their return policy and it mentions once you take on installation it's no longer them responsible... I mean if its the stator in my case I would atleast want them to reimburse me for that, but who knows I'll be happy once its running!
*Update* I used an angle grinder and shaved away the metal welds and took the nut off. The reason for the nut being welded in the first place was cause the crank threads were completely stripped. So the previous owner obviously did know how fuct this scooter was.

Howzit guys ! .. I had the exact same problem with that motor when i tried to put it in a CPI mako. I had to take the stator out of the old 50 block and put it into the new engine. apparently the motor wires nicely to the yamaha jog90 but my chinese knock off had a different rectifier. 2 options here ; re-wire the bike or change the stator the hardest part was finding a flywheel puller tool that is the right size to pull the stator, after that everything worked fine... does an easy 50 about as fast as a car would take off from a stop light.
