i noticed that the carb shoots plenty gas out of it, it seems like the airbox almost needs to be saturated for it to run properly. if my bike was sitting i would have to let it spit a bunch of fuel before she wants to go. pretty much the same symptom where it idles fine but bogs out... try letting it idle for like 5 minutes and see if that works. you could also try testing the theory by putting some gas on a rag and holding it up to the intake on the airbox.. this has been the case with all of my chinese JOG engines. fricken things like to huff gasoline from the box.
you could also try running a different carb... i currently have a 28 oko that runs just fine on there without a filter or airbox. it seems the smaller stock type carbs pretty much need the airbox on them in order to run.

Hey guys! After putting the scooter aside for a few months I decided to try again. I had a friend of a friend who is an mechanic with an electrician background come and help this time. The problem came down to what Dude said: I believe Eton have DC system. If the 100cc came with the stator that is wired for a AC will that make a diffrents? I am lost on wiring myself. The bike IS DC and the motor was an AC setup. After countless emails with MO from scrappydog the scooter finally runs (idles fine)!!! First off, the stater WAS bad and needed replacing. Then I had to order an AC CDI ( so that means I have an aftermarket Eton CDI if anyone is interested  ) Midway through the project I had to relocate the scooter and it's at the guys place now. Stupid me, I left the plastic engine shroud + fan at my house  . Since those pieces are vital for testing we will finish up this Saturday. After reading all the fuel issues, you guys got me scared so I will keep this updated in case I run into similar issues.

I'm happy to hear you've made progress on it. :thumb: I think you've gotten the worst of it over and beyond this point hopefully it's just a bit of tuning. Let us know how it turns out.

Okay guys, after another messed up CDI the bike runs. Top speed is about 45 on flats, 40 on hills, and 50+ downhills. Headlight doesn't work (bulb is not burnt out), and there is a minor stalling issue. The stalling issue kinda seems like what the two members described. It idles perfect, but as soon as I give it gas I need to turn the choke on full or there is no power. Then when I coast to a stop if I don't turn off the choke it dies.

I already cleaned the carb and no difference. The carb that is on it is a mikuni stock carb and I have the stock Eton carb I might throw on it to try.

Nice going getting it running. It sounds like an air filter issue maybe. Not enough restriction. Is there even an air filter at all? What's the plug look like?

Have you tried changing needle settings or installing a larger main jet to see if it improves?

I did check the spark plug and it was black but not wet or anything. I swapped out the stock Eton carb on it and it runs great now. Top speed is still only 45ish, but I am not too concerned cause it gets there in a reasonable time. My biggest concern now would be the headlight. Since its dark now I noticed that it does turn on when I first turn the ignition on the start position, but only flickers and dies off. I will check the wires to see if there are any loose ends. Also to raise the top speed could I do some variator tuning? I mean would it benefit a stock setup? If I did raise the weights would heavier weights lower the power for riding up a hill? Thanks! I am also about to donate cause this forum has been the most helpful out of the few scooter specific forums I have joined.

I think you should take a good look at the light bulb itself.
