Don't keep adjusting the mixture screw. Get the idle right and then leave that alone. Once you get the right main in there, then you might wanna readjust it for best idle again. You shouldn't be adjusting that for plug readings though, unless you are reading the plug at idle or 1/8 throttle, which is fairly pointless if you have a good idle.
Stock mains vary, but yeah it's prob somewhere around there.

Thanks Brent. A 95 shouldn't be too far off On a totally stock bike 50cc with the only mod being a free flow air filter and a needle mod? I guess I will give it a try but those bowl screws are a bitch.

Just hit 750 miles so took the cvt cover off to inspect/replace the chinobelt and much to my surprise it has a gates powerlink on it. Stock. Brent I know you hate em but they have always been excellent for me. Weighed my rollers with my digital postal scale. Drawback is the gram setting only weighs in graduations of 10. My 6 stockers came out to 50 50/6=8.33 so lets call them 8.25's i took 3 out, left 3 in. 8.25X3=24.75 total roller weight, like having 6x4.12 weights. wow takes off like a shot, excellent midrange throttle response and i feel an increase in top end too but I attribute that in large part by raising the needle. Top end hill climbing power is little better however LOW to mid torque for the hills is GREATLY improved. Revs a bit high though from a dead stop but seems to like it other than a slight dead spot when rolling on the throttle from about 10mph....lean I believe. I found a 105 and 115 jet from my 150 days so might try to trade them for an 88/90.
Progress!
Best mod I ever did was take out those 3 weights. Free and got the best bang for the buck...that I didnt even have to spend. :riding:

lol That's very wise, and I admire your restraint. This is my first 50 and I want to see what I can get out of it both power and longivity combined. I hope to make the smart choices with it, we shall see. So far so good. I really want to see how long a 50 will live with just a few basic mods.

If i didnt mention it... With all those heavy weights in the vari, it would take off rather enemic then be in top gear by 15 mph wwwuuuuuuuggggghhhhhhhhhhHhhhhhhhhhhahhhhhhhHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAH! it was so sad it was laughable. Not anymore ..Now Midnight is WWAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! to about 25 then starts to switch up. I love it. about 1200-1500 rpm increase right from takeoff and 1000 or 800 up to 30mph.

If you ever wanna experiment more with the CVT, maybe try a set of 4.5-5g sliders and see what you think. Just slightly heavier sliders will usually provide about the same acceleration or improved acceleration along with a little more top end because their shape lets them push the vari together a bit more.

bought an 85 and 88 jet at a local scooter shop today. bought that 47mm kit from RD (can never have too many engine rebuild kits around if you are like me and are on a 10 year DL suspension.)
Ran lots of errands today all over Raleigh and Cary, kept up with traffic and even left them at lights and passed them in some slower areas. Was doin an indicated 50 in a 35 when a cop passed me going the opposite direction and he waved lol. a CARY cop too. anyone who reads this who is from here will know how rare that is. He prolly has a scoot in his garage (be it a bashan or a harley). Another cool thing is that all the bikers gave me "the wave" nomatter what they were on...didnt matter. I like that. im my view, if you are Zen enough to have a 2-wheeler, you are in the club, i dont give a damn what it is.
anyway, gonna try the 85 tomorrow first, then the 88 and compare. Also im leaking oil that i suspect is from the valve cover or possibly the little port that comes off the cover for the hose. Its revving HIGH now so thats got the pressure up etc...its not bad bad but any oil leak in my rather obsessive compulsive view is bad lol.
Also the brake light doesnt work now when i apply the front. the back brake activates the brake light and since I use them both at the same time then i can still ride. When i got home from running an errand all the way up to North Raleigh, when i parked in my spot at home i look down and right there laying on the floorboard is a strange looking screw. Just sittin there. possibly something to do with the brake light malfunction? I will take a pic later, right now I gotta eat.
