Build list so far ( 1/18/18) : Frame: 1980 Honda Express welded crossbar steering stabilizer Engine: 90cc Minarelli clone. Hoca 96cc top end I still need to change the port timings to 190 exh and 132 transfer. 21mm Dellorto Carb Malossi reeds
CVT: Malossi la furia rossa overrange kit Exhaust: Peacepipe Purchased! Front end: Shortened ruckus stem SSS stem conversion piece ruckus shocks ruckus brakes 90/90/10 Heidenau tire
Fuel: Walmart 2 quart thermosOther: looking for up gear kits Will a 90/90/10 tire fit in the rear? YES! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I am editing all my posts in this build since it started out as something completely different... After messing about with a cheap Vino clone, I wanted to build a more performance oriented scoot. Once upon a time I had a Honda Express NC50 that I was partially swapping in a GY6 with. I loved the shape and how minimalistic it was. Here's a quick shot: I sold this project because I needed cash. I shoulda kept it and finished it out. This is where this project comes in. I have always been a believer in MiniGP racing. I have raced a few XR100s and had an absolute blast. Since there is a league in Texas, and they have a scooter class, it was a clear shot for me to build something completely different yet still be able to compete. Build Goals: Build something lightweight that used modern components and of course made decent power! The way I look at any scooter build, there are always a number of aftermarket parts involved. I figured I might as well choose the frame I want, since everything else will be swapped out anyways. Here we go!

I'm not familiar with the 90's or clone gearboxes. I just wanted to chime in and mention the fan shrouds... If you don't have them then they should be another first on your "to get" list. They're that important. To me that scoot looks like it would be great for a sleeper build. No one would ever suspect a rippin motor in a classic style scoot

The gears should be interchangeable from 50-90cc clones. Stock gears from some youth ATVs, like the Polaris 90, are long gears. You have to be careful with them though (check all pics) because some have a sprocket specific output shaft.
If you're willing to do some porting and supporting mods, a Peace Pipe is a good 90cc pipe that's more on the wild side. I have a PG, but it's a milder pipe. I really like it, but it's not intended for high revs. PG Minarelli stuff is harder to find.

Tecnigas next-R 100cc. About $100. For the price it's not that bad. Nice and torquey.

They are a highly sought-after rip roaring 2t pipe that are hand crafted by a 2t mad genius. The only way to aquire one that I know of is to go directly to the source. The man himself. PM 190mech .

I tried looking for the peace pipe? Can Y'all help? Sorry I Should have included his contact info but niz was there to fill in my omission lol. 190mech is famous for his knowledge and pipes. If you need a pipe for a 90 to 103cc minarelli scooter you can't do better. They might be considered a little loud though

Small update: Just placed an order with scrappy dog scoots for the proper fan shrouds as per spaz's comment. Ordered a replacement fuel pump as the one I had started leaking!
That's all for now.

As I continue looking for ways to use late model parts, there was once really key answer for me: Ruckus I know that Brandon over at SSS sells an adapter for a Spree. The adapter allows the use of a ruckus or metro stem to be fitted. I went on a hunch that the adapter would also fit the Express. It does!

The Ruckus stem is way too tall for it to fit the Express so it needed some trimming. About 3.5 inches. I have a friend machine a cylinder to keep the stem true during welding.

As soon as I came back from having the stem shortened, I had to slap the front end together!
