That "gas tank" will get you from gas station to gas station with that beast of a motor. Lol!

I am not sure how many laps a 1/2 will last or how many laps the races even go for. I am open to options for the gas tank as I wasn't ready to put down $150 on a spun alu tank just to find that it is too small

I've seen guys use aluminum water bottles as tanks before. But the are pretty small haha.
Never mind I didn't see your earlier post haha. You already did that!! Nice bike btw.

I am bringing this build back from the dead! While I am saving up for the Malossi over range CVT kit, I am getting some final frame mods out of the way. I ordered a Kiesler steering dampener from SSS and am going to drill a stud hole in the ruckus triple and weld a stud on the downtube to connect them. I am also adding a brace to hold my $15 walmart thermos gas tank. Now onto finding a rear tire for the scoot. I think a 90/90/10 will fit. It looks super tight but if anyone has seen it work, please let me know! 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/1271/bigger-rear-tire-short-minarelli

Small update: I was buttoning up the gear box and CVT just to have it together while I wait for the rest of the parts to come in ( I don’t like having it all apart). I made no changes to the gearbox except to take it apart to inspect it. When putting it together with high quality oil, I got a pretty noticeable binding going on just rolling the bike back and forth. I backed off the rear brake cable to make sure it wasn’t that. This is def binding going on with the axle bearing. Time to order more parts! It looks like number 4 on the part for scooters link here: www.partsforscooters.com/scooter-parts-diagrams/50cc-2-stroke-1E40QMB-Transmission-and-CVT-Parts_2

If the wheel is from a different make scoot, check and see if its not binding at the tranny bearing housing when the axle is tightened,Ive had to add a shim or trim some metal from the outer flange of the wheel to get clearance on a few oddball builds before..If you do need bearings its likely #1(sealed ball bearing) instead of the roller bearing..#2 seal should be ordered too as you'll kill it getting the ball bearing out..

I am 99% positive it is the original rim. I think it was starting to make noise when I first got it.
Ah well, the money pit grows bigger.

I installed a steering stabilizer that I purchased from SSS. The quality is there but I wish there was just a bit more resistance in the dampener. maybe someday I could have it rebuilt with thicker oil.

I just placed my most boring order ever: Transmission bearings, oil seals and a valve stem.

We'd all rather buy new go fast parts than replace bearings and seals, but the "boring" stuff takes up too much cash and is prob the most important. It's a cruel world.

They come in all different sizes, and are Hell-stout-for-leather strong. Not too light though.

I am getting myself parts for Christmas.
What gears should I get?
I might as well upgrade while I’m doing the bearings in the gearbox.
Since y’all are saying this is more of a low end torque platform I’d like to gear it for higher top speeds. I’ve looked at some posts here but I’m not sure where to go or what exact gears to get. I may hit up SSS about it.

I love the Express! I had one for awhile, used a motorized bicycle gas tank. Your bike is way cooler though. And faster.

Happy holidays y’all!
I’m waiting for more bearings for the gearbox. Dealing with a Chinese clone engine, one of the bearings on the axle is a weird size. The standard size is 25x35x15. What I knocked out of the case was 25x33x15. That was weird.
I finally ordered a rear tire. A heidenau 90/90-10 K61. I’m going to attempt mouthing it tubeless.
I’m waiting to get into the garage to measure and find out my ratios. My next purchase will be a gear upgrade. I have been recommended to get the Polini kit.
Last but not least, I took the plunge and ordered the Malossi furia rossa OR kit. My decision was largely impacted by Brent’s experience and reviews when comparing the OR kit to mixing and matching individual cvt upgrade parts. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to getting it!
