Making things like that was a lot easier 20 years ago when I could still weld. 20 years ago I could have welded this up without the need for pharmaceuticals. Now I need to take an extra dose of my anti-tremor medication when I work on things like welding and electrical soldering. Old age is not for sissies!

Eyesight and tremor are both a problem. I have even had the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) operation for the tremor 5 years ago. The drugs didn't even touch it. I can still do a little torch brazing and soldering but the results are Fugly. I have a flux core wire welder but I just can't see to use it even with auto darkening equipment. They say ET is not fatal but I was sure close to it just before they decided to do the DBS.

Wired up the basics to run an engine. Now to make a control box to put all the wiring in, add a couple switches and make a proper mount for the tiny test fuel tank. I need to come up with a way to pipe the exhaust outside too so I can play with stuff in the winter. It’s ok with both shop doors open and a good cross ventilation thing going on right now but soon it will be too cold for that foolishness.

Pushing the exhaust outside is only required for 4T engines. With a 2T it is a waste of good cologne. If you must push exhaust outside a computer fan attached to a length of dryer vent hose and piping works good. You can buy those small muffin fans in 12VDC or 120VAC.

Today I did a first aid course at work and as we were leaving I slipped off the last step of the stairs and landed on my knees. Bit stiff but I will survive. Funny it happened after that course.

Nope they were still upstairs except my new trainee instructor who was with me she looked a bit concerned. But I did tell her not to worry "Pride before a fall and all that" stiffness is now slowly setting in though.

Wait until tomorrow... I had a new 19" tall elongated bowl Kohler handicap toilet installed. $300 parts, $200 labor, and about a half dozen trips by me to the basement to shut off water and leak checks. I was lucky I didn't fall on those basement steps. The installer was a Pro, no leaks. I may use him again for a few projects. I will be a little stiff tomorrow but not near as bad as milly

Picked up this used 150cc motor yesterday for a song. Oh, the possibilities!

Today I went to one of my favourite schools to teach cycle training. It's a little one room Elementary school. They are closing it in January 2025 to shove the kids into a new concrete block 10 miles away they are building so the head teacher asked me to train up all year's in the school next October. 😊

Last winter, I drove 50 miles pulling a trailer on a nice layer of ice to pick up a mill/drill I found on Facebook Marketplace. I paid a low price, put the main bulk of the machine on an 4-wheel cart, unloaded it into the garage, and there it sat. It was used as a quick and dirty drill press in a factory surrounded by laser and plasma cutters so it was very dirty and black. One day last summer, I pushed it out on the driveway, gave it a generous spray of engine degreaser then gave it a good power wash before sticking it back in its hole in the garage. About a couple months ago, I made a frame for the cabinet to sit in that has castors and leveling feet. Then I used a come-along and the rafters of the garage to lift the machine onto the base cabinet. Back in the hole it went. Yesterday, I moved a 240v outlet to a more convenient place in the garage and today I wired up the machine to a plug. Then I replaced the bad switch. In the interim, I have picked up a couple Asian machine vises, a hold-down set and the R8 tooling I already have. I sold off 2 small drill presses over the summer so I have been without for a while. Now I can make holes once more!

Today, I completed fabrication and installation of my tiny English wheel I got from Amazon. It’s quite small and nowhere near capable of forming steel body panels for automobiles but I have found it satisfactory (probably because I don’t know any better) for shaping aluminum sheets. I cut off a tail on the lower part of the “C” frame that was meant to clamp into a bench vise. I welded together the wall mounting apparatus from a 3x3x1/4 angle and another chunk of 1/4” plate. I fashioned the hinge from 7-2” pieces of DOM tubing and welded the whole thing together. Then I added a pair of Amazon De-stac-co knockoff clamps to keep it rigid in the “out” position. My folding wall mount makes it possible to swing it out of the way yet is more sturdy in the working position. Oh… the trials of having a tiny shop!

A video of it being used would be cool!
