Engine dismantling has begun. I'm not happy with what I'm seeing. The link below goes to an album that will be a photo for everything I take off. It looks like this engine has had a water breach before and is used not new like I believed when I bought it. imgur.com/a/lRPp9

Are the instagram links obnoxious? http://instagr.am/p/BaM-6xfA_NW Im almost done with the intake porting. I need to transition to either a very fine sanding drum or find a stone before trying to polish.

No need to polish, just make it smooth..We're talking low velocity, think aircraft wings,,smooth curves,no sharp edges!

so did you just flip the stock intake manifold around to get it to be front facing?

so did you just flip the stock intake manifold around to get it to be front facing? Pretty much. The black plastic needs to be trimmed back for cleatence with the thremostat housing. But its not much.

http://instagram.com/p/BaPSWxoAss3 Im super impressed with the outcome from so little work. There were some big chunks taken out of this. Its the .03 hp and .007 mpg this gave me that really matters.

I reeeeally hate to sound dumb, but you guys will get a kick out of this.
"I couldn't figure out wtf you were talking about... intake runner... huh? Why's it look like some super zoomed in garbage? And whats that big shiny plug now where all that shredded steel was?"
Now that i kicked this 24 hour migraine, my brain cleared up and i get it. Its the manifold tube. You polished the snot out of it. Looks waaaay nice by the way. Wonder if it'll help doing similar in the head's intake port?

I did the intake side of the head too. I couldnt get all of it because the valve is still in it. It mostly got a gasket match port to smooth the air out as much as posible. With the carb off i even managed to line up the spacer perfectly.

I tore mine down to the case. was having lack of compression and burnt coolant issues. the head gasket was blown and the bore was gouged all to hell. so the only logical thing to do was order a malossi 300cc (287 actually)bbk. the intake valve had a large amount of carbon on the back side of it preventing it from closing fully. bottom end seems to be ok. but knowing that the carb can be forward facing easily, that will probably make cramming it under my Honda ruckus a little easier.
