I got a call today about a job I've been trying to get for awhile, and I got finally got it. I've still gotta go for safety training, orientation and a DOT physical. I've been trying for a roll off driver job at Waste Management for some time now and went for my second interview in the middle of moving last week and didn't hear anything from them till today. I also got a call from the union about a dump truck job today that pays more per hour but its not as consistent as WM, its based on the weather if we work or not and its not year round work. I've been with the teamsters for 2 yrs as of May and I've actually only worked for 5 months 2 weeks and 4 days, so I talked to my wife and decided that I'm gonna take the job with WM and walk away from the union BS. As you can guess I'm pretty happy right now. But that got me to thinking, I wonder what others here on the forum do for a living?

I ran a small computer repair shop, just me and a buddy from high school, until last year. Now I'm trying to sell off all the random stuff I had accumulated Other than that, not much. I've basically been trying to get rid of as much stuff as I can before I head to Florida in 2 months. I'd rather not have to take very much with me.

Can't really call it a job I guess, but I have to be around for my 90 year old grandmother. She needs someone around 24/7. She's got a degenerative nerve issue. I forget what overly complex term the neurologists actually called it, but basically she can't feel or control her legs properly. Sometimes she's fine with a walker, sometimes she needs help or a wheelchair, sometimes she can't stop her legs from kicking around on their own. She is kind enough to give me what she can for helping, but it's not an easy "job" watching a family member slowly deteriorate and holy crap old people are grumpy. Congrats on the employment opportunity Jason.

Brent , you are an "In Home Caregiver" a very tough job. caregiver-jobs.org/elderly-caregiver/I am a "sandwhich artist" at Subway. I hate $5 footlongs, LOL. I have been a photo processor, back in the film days, and while a stay at home mom ( small children can be pretty grumpy too ), I was a "teddy bear artist" designing patterns for 1 1/2" to 4" miniature animals for a company, and for shops. Hmm, computer repair person, got tired of cleaning out adware....I always liked the hardware end, most people just go out and buy a new one these days.
