My crank, bearings and seals arrived:
The crank looks really nice. Its sleeping in my freezer now, waiting for my 2 days off next week. Should the flywheel bearing be a sealed bearing?

No on the sealed bearing the heat will destroy it has to be the same as top one but smaller

Scrappy sent me 2 extra ones, I'll look and see if one is correct.
Edit: Just talked to Scrappy and that's all they had. I need to look elsewhere. Not much help, I wish I had looked at them earlier.

You should be able to take those shields off that bearing- at least take the shield off the side facing inward, it gets oiled by the fuel/oil inside the crankcase...

I wouldn't even bother going to get a new bearing as long as you've got some brake cleaner around. I usually just buy whatever is cheapest in a decent brand and remove seals if need be. A small pick or flat screwdriver should easily pop the seals off. Then you'll find a thick grease in there that can be cleaned out with brake cleaner. If I clean one out and it's going to sit before use with oil, I spray a little WD40 in there and spin it just to keep any rust away since you no longer have grease or any factory coating on it. I showed this briefly with shielded bearings on my wheel balancer. Same idea with shields or seals. youtu.be/9koGE_HrTJ8?t=1m34s

Brent and Niz, thanks for the advice, thats what I did. I had the day off today so I started work on the TGB. The crank went in the freezer when it came so it would be plenty cold when it arrived. The disassembly went fine, I did discover a few things like you have to let the air out of the rear tire to remove it from the axle:
Everything else came off just fine. I cleaned the cases up and pulled the covers off the sealed bearing and cleaned it, heated them up and the went on the crank exactly how Brents video showed. The crank is back in the freezer waiting for the carters. One issue i ran into was the stator and the flywheel: Notice the chunk out of the flywheel. I suspect the bad crank cause the flywheel to rub the stator.
The stator is a 8 pole stator manufactured June 12 2008, the flywheel is June 12, 2006 and the bike is an 2007. I suspect that the stator was replaced. I tested the stator and the exciter is 1.5k and the other 2 are 400. Is this acceptable resistance. I found a flywheel on eBay for $45 with free shipping and jumped on it. It seems to match except it has 4 screws instead of my 2. It looks like 2 of the holes line up. If I need a stator did anyone find a source for an 8 pole stator? Tomorrow I'm going to put it back together and clean up the stator and flywheel and hope for the best, if it doesn't work I'll have a new one here on Saturday. EDIT: oh by the way the old crank just fell apart.

Yesterday was a fun day putting the crank with bearings in the case. I'm glad I thought it through, I originally was going to put the transmission side on first because the flywheel side would have been easier to mount on the crank in the carter. I decided to see if the larger carter would fit in my side by side freezer and no way so I went the other way and the carter and crank spent time with a box of frozen fish and my Ice container got cleaned.
Being single probably makes this easier to do, my dog didn't care what I put in the oven or freezer. It all went together well, I did have to heat the flywheel carter and extra 10 minutes. But it all joined well and tightened up nicely.
While waiting for everything to freeze and cool I cleaned the rest of the parts and honed the cylinder. I'm in no rush to finish. Tomorrow I'll get the rest of it together and wait for the new flywheel on Saturday. The Derbi is calling from the back of the garage, "fix me, you have the parts, fix me".
