Thanks for the pics/info about the engine so far. Hate to see this one go without some performance tinkering.

Ya for sure! I totally agree. I never tend to get attached to these scoots- or I try not to at least but this really is one of the harder ones to let go. Dang just think I could finally play with the BWS100/Aerox100 stuff on this one. I took it for another ride today and it seemed to top out at around 50-52 indicated which felt a lot like true GPS speeds. Hmm maybe someone would be better off with a 60mph Adly mina in it??....

Wow I've never been so indecisive about a scoots' paint before. I've been thinking about what I want to do with it and was just real unsure. I do like the flat paint look that the Roughhouses use and I was thinking this scoot would look real mean in a flat black. I found a Google image where someone painted one flat black though and not too sure about that look now... Maybe I should just leave it as-is with the silver and not paint it at all? Or maybe I could do it in flat black plasti-dip? That way if I or the new owner doesn't like it, it can just be peeled off... Then I saw some flat gray plasti-dip while I stood in the paint aisle at WalMart forever. But the flat gray just looks so... plain. Grr what to do here?? I ended up choosing something totally different- Rustoleum Metallic Flat 'Soft Iron'. Hmm I do like the looks of those "Platinum" Rattlers! With the paint color chosen, now it's time to prep! First panel is done and I'm really liking this choice... Really really liking it! It's hard to tell in the pics but this paint does have a metallic flake in it. Y'all know how I love that flaky paint. haha. I have all the panels done now and I must say for the record that I really liked this paint. I had a couple little issues with some splatter but it didn't show up in the final product. This paint is the "paint and primer in one" type and it covers really really well...

Man, at first seeing the panel with tape on it I thought you went with the silver instead of the dark grey, and I'm like, noooooo Niz! Then I scrolled down Looks super sharp next to the black!

Haha thanks Spaz! For being so indecisive at first, I'm real happy with it!

It sure is a lot easier to find Adly 50-90cc stuff around than these 110s. I was watching multiple Adly cases or engines for a while, from $50 for a set of 90 cases to $200 for a complete 49cc engine in great condition... plus you actually have a scooter scene where you are to dip into. I have not seen those opportunities with the Rattler 110 or BWS100 engines. I'm not saying to go for it, but at least look into your options with this engine before you let it go if you have the desire to work on it. I've heard that the bigger engines aren't all that great because they are stuck at low revs with small transfers, kind of like what the 90cc Yamaha/clone Minarellis deal with. Otherwise, I wouldn't say research it, I'd say keep it for sure. I would imagine it could make a nice street motor being so large, but it may never be a screamer. I may be incorrect on that though. I have never spent much time looking into them because of a few comments like that and the fact that I could never find one at a reasonable price anyway.

I have been thinking a lot about what to do here as I just don't think I feel comfortable swapping a Mina engine into this as the engine is pretty much what defines this scooter and I feel like I'd be kinda screwing someone over by swapping the Genuine engine out of it. HOWEVER, I am going to do something this time that I have never ever done with a flip- I am going to put my (beloved) Roketa AIR scoot up for sale at the same time (well, I'll need a few days to get into "sale shape") and see which one sells first! Whichever one sells first, I'll keep the other one! I better get busy!

I have a few tiny details to finish up before I make a vid for it (like a hard-to-find blinker bulb that's burnt out and I need to get a few little plastic body pins for the undertail plastic) but other than that it's pretty much done! Leaps to life at the touch of the button and lifts the front tire with ease! Here's a couple before/after shots: Before: After: Before: After:

Hard to believe it's the same scoot. Great work!

Maybe you can market the Air 50 as a confirmation of alien existence because of the creature in the headlight.

That's bad ass. KEEP IT.. Naked bars, disc brakes. Hasn't been piped, carbed, or big bored yet. Doesnt Malossi make a 124cc?

But that rattler is tough. I know it's hard when your flipping and want to keep them all. I wouldn't want to get rid of my daily driver. Atleast submit the Roketa on the scoot speed list before you make any drastic decisions. But hello Malossi. 65-70mph region with plenty of torque. Might just give the Vespa a run for its money. Yeah right!
