Ryan made a huge mistake yesterday. He put the Zuma on the bench that turns out the slowest scooters on the internet.
He welded the Yasuni adapter parts together and installed his carbon fiber Yasuni silencer. Hey, look... the TIG welder that Ryan, John and Scott gave me can produce decent welds! These are all his pics, BTW. It looks good, matching his color scheme a bit better than the light blue Malossi silencer. It's still loud. We think there's a lot of intake noise on the RC-One and it overwhelms the exhaust sound anywhere past idle.
We went out and did a few runs vs T2's TPR 86cc and even swapped scoots for 3-4 drag races. There were 4 GoPros rolling, so I'll leave you in suspense till I can get that together (it'll be a bit because I need to finish my Lectron vid before I start editing this). I will say that the RC-One feels pretty rough off the line, and obviously pulls hard once it's going. I didn't do anything good riding the Zuma. Not being used to the scoot and how it unloads the front suspension and where to get my feet up vs instincts from so long learning T2 made me more focused on making sure I didn't take any big chances with his scoot. It's fun, but you really have to learn to launch it. Unless you're going to put wheelie bars on it; gone are the days of simply sitting on the front of the seat and leaning forward and pinning the throttle on go. I can tell you for sure that with my 300lb on the front of his seat, it still isn't going to stay on the ground and I don't know if I ever tried accessing more than maybe 1/2 throttle on starts. Not even sure that I even twisted it that far till after it got moving.
He was going to swap belts before the show. He took the belt off and I measured it just shy of 18.6mm. He handed me the new belt, just shy of 18.6mm. ~100 miles on it.
We loaded up and took the scoots to OC to cruise around the car show. Again, I'll get video together at some point. I told Ryan on the way down that I think it's a bad idea for us to be drag racing each other all of the time down there with all of the heavy fines, impounds, arrests and he agreed. ...So we only took off from lights 1/2 of the time. Well, I did. I think he was just wrestling the throttle most of the time, trying not to flip over and eat sh*t. lol
I will tell you that the highlight of my day was doing multiple wheelies in front of crowds along the strip. I think Ryan was messing around too, but he was behind me so I can't say for sure what he was up to. Then I heard, "STOP!". Looked down at the rear view and apparently I/we had been showing off for the Maryland State Trooper that was directly behind us too and that was him on his PA commanding that the hijinks stop. Amazing enough, I'm not posting from an OC jail cell. He never even pulled us over.
