Yeah the shocks stuffed and it's bottoming out badly My Uni came with an instruction sheet stating that it's not oiled etc? Might be an international shipping thing that there dry?

Hmm. I've never oiled em haha. They seem slightly oily already, but maybe I'm not doing it right. I've gotta new one in the package somewhere, I should check haha.

Got it to my buddy's upholstery shop in Hamilton (about 5.5 hours drive from where I live, longer since we were towing a trailer full of scooters and stopped along the way etc) and unloaded it and his brown Gyro I've been working on. With me sitting on his it went down about 2cm and had minimal droop if I bounced on it. Mine dropped over 8cm when I sat on it and drooped way lower if I bounced at all on it! With a bit of help from one of his customers and some of my scooter and car club members we got the rear shock out While waiting for the white one to be brought to the shop by another club member who picked it up from the seller and trailered it down to Hamilton from Auckland for me, I gave a hand and we got his FR50 running And I also jetted a Let's II for another member as it was suffering from typical Suzuki lean jetting, the higher RPM it was getting from a variator and a the bit of extra air from a uni panel filter in the stock box was causing it to get a touch lean at WOT. Late that night the white one arrived and the shock is rusty but firm and not saggy!! So a few of us swapped the shock into the Green one and it'd be rude not to test ride it right?! Have learnt that the Gyro takes a rather long time to warm up and clear it's throat too, seems to be a Gyro thing though, the brown one and Plan B both take a fair bit of time to run smoothly when started from cold. The 90mj is a fair bit too lean for it, just took a while to warm up enough to show up fully. And I finally got to have a bit of a look over the new white one, it turns out for be about a 2002 model, has the late model wide engine like I swapped into mine from a Canopy model. Also DC ignition with a massive CDI box, emissions crap running all over the place and a few bits that will find there way onto my green one like the tail light extension panel! Had to have a play, a couple club members were adamant we had to get it running that night (about midnight at this point) so after finding a couple broken wires and draining the really nasty petrol out if came back to life! It's got a snapped belt or other drive issue though as it'll happily rev but there is no movement at all! WeBike have the shock I need, but won't send shocks outside of Japan, can get a low down shock for Ruckus from scootertuning but I don't thing the spring rate would be hight enough since the Gyro has a lot of leverage on the shock! All because of the stupid Japanese Post. They refuse to send more and more bike parts to foreign countries. Carburetors, engines and maybe even engine parts, front or rear shocks that use oil or high pressure and so on. When I asked them for the reason they told me that they mainly worry about oil or/and fuel leaking out and causing damage or even a fire. A brand new carb or even used one gets usually cleaned and has no fuel or oil inside it same goes for the engine. But trying to convince them is hopeless.

You can try my guy Robert @ EP Importers, he can send it freight/surface/boat where they don't have a problem sending those things. I have had shocks and forks sent via him many times, ZX swaps etc. Downside is time, it takes a bit. for me its 4-6 weeks usually. for you probably not that long but a few weeks for sure. www.ep-importers.com/Tell him Joel with the scooter parts addiction sent you.

Got chatting with the manager of a local parts shop today, he reckoned that there's a race suspension place they use that should be able to rebuild the worn out shock and possibly revalve it to suit my Gyro, will see. Also this should make things a lot easier! Need to drill a couple holes to get the vice to play nice with the 10" wheels but that's no major.

I absolutely love my lift. No more sitting on the floor to work on the cvt. Or laying on the ground to to disconnect the exhaust from the cylinder. Just leave the bike on the lift and pump it up.

Haven't done anything to the Green one lately, think I've found a YSS shock, shipping isn't cheap though! Went to take Plan B for a ride today, Aaron had fitted a new battery for me the other day and it started first pop on the electric start, released the parking lock to roll it off the lift and it died instantly! I'd completely disconnected the park lock immobilizer when I put it back together and I really couldn't think of any other switches actuated by the lock? So after a lot of mucking around stripping plastics off stage by stage I used needle nose pliers to lever the last section of cable and the engine fired up, moved the pliers to release the cable and as the engine died I saw a pretty big spark... Little bit more checking and I discovered a one of the earth wires had broken away from the terminal and the engine was earthing through the park lock cable when it was pulled! After a bit of Plan B riding (video to come if anyone interested?) I went to use my lift properly for the first time, loaded the new white Gyro on and pressed the button... Nothing besides a lot of hissing! After a lot of mucking around I ended up stripping the air motor and found a few tiny bits of plastic swarf but nothing else untoward. Put it back together and away it went better than new! Who'd have thought 3 tiny slivers of thin plastic would stop it dead?! Thinking this one is too good to strip for parts, going to find what's stopping it moving (90% sure it's shredded belt), remove all the emissions crap, general tidy up and register it.

Managed to find a bit of shed time tonight, so got stuck into the white one. Knew that things weren't going to be perfect as soon as I pulled the hub off and the brake linings fell off the shoes! After pulling all the fuel lines, pump, airbox and brakes off and then a fair bit of tapping around with a plastic headed hammer, the CVT cover finally popped off, sure enough the belt is snapped. Figured I'd be able to get away with giving it a good clean out and just fitting a fresh belt, so I started dealing with this mess But something caught my eye Bit of an odd place to find a clutch spring! Better investigate that a bit closer WTF?! Could say it's a touch worn! Wonder how bad it slipped?! Variator isn't in great shape either Those 2 rollers are fused there solid! I've got the over range variator I ran in the Green Gyro before I got the Malossi so it'll go in to this one along with a decent stock clutch I've got. Discovered there's no mixture adjustment on the carb, but there's a hose that runs to a valve (?) in the airbox? And the exhaust has a pipe that runs to this unit and is then piped into the CVT cover?? Thinking Dio carb and earlier pre-emissions spec Canopy head pipe might be the best option to ditch it all. I've got a Daytona DC CDI for AF34/35 Dio sitting on my stock shelf* that if it doesn't sell soon may find it's way into this too... *I got sick of having little parts support here in NZ, so I've decided to do something about it and started my own store: NZ Scootercare Only small time at the moment, but growing everyday!

What a great thread! First post here; stumbled upon this thread while researching for a Honda Gyro Canopy project. I'm in the U.S. and had a Gyro X a while back. It was SO FUN to ride. I stupidly sold it, lol, so a couple of years ago I bought a Canopy TA01E engine from the UK on eBay. Finally getting around to it- the front half is going to be a titled Suzuki AE50 frame. My Canopy engine needed a stator so I threw in a used one from an Elite and now I'm getting spark. I'm going to be putting the Malossi kit on eventually, using it with a Leo Vince ZX pipe I cut and had welded to fit. I'm still researching wheels, though. I noticed a few Japan tuners using Dio ZX wheels, and Garage HMK said that they'd bolt on. Looking around I've noticed that Dio ZX wheels bolt on to a Ruckus/Zoomer...sooooo... Anyone have any stock Ruckus rear rims/wheels they'd be willing to part with? Do Elite SA50 rear wheels also fit on the Ruck? I've got the Gyro Canopy hubs and I love the way those big meats look on Raizer's bike, but I also like the idea of something fairly light in the rear and I'm trying not to exceed my meager budget! I love your X, Raizer! Attached is a pic of the one I used to have. It was a rough but fun bike. Nice job on yours, and thanks for this thread.

Went to fire the Green one up for the first time in ages, 2 kicks and it locked up, then the starter motor cooked forcing me to investigate the kick starter Got to love high compression ha! Taking it to a park up/show so pics to come
