Cool build!Looks like youve got a touch of corrosion here and there, perhaps thats the theme of this ride..Keep us posted!! It's been sitting on the side of the house since January pretty much. I took it for a spin several months ago. Tried running a yasuni c30 on it but it couldn't rev up high enough to pull hard. I live about 200 yards from Kailua beach and 2 years ago I lived 200 yards from Waimanalo beach. I have neglected this thing for years. The salt spray from the ocean corrodes everything... but Hawaii is a nice place for riding scoots. I'm tearing it down to remove rust, fix some wiring, repaint the frame. I'm going to try removing rust from some steel parts using electrolysis. (Oxyclean, water, plastic bin and a battery charger).

Finally! I see a scoot with more rust than mine. I am just over a mile from the beach.
Pretty slick adding gauges to the cluster!

I will verify rotor brand when I get home from work.
--checked-- NHRC is the brand name. it is also etched "YAMAHA JOG. FLOATING ROTOR". I am pretty sure it is 200mm.

Finally! I see a scoot with more rust than mine. I am just over a mile from the beach. Pretty slick adding gauges to the cluster! I have been on the windward side of Oahu for the last 6 years. All the salt spray from the ocean gets blown inland. It corrodes steel and aluminum. If the bike sits for a long time, the aluminum oxidizes and it gets covered with white aluminum oxide powder. It's an endless battle. In regards to the gages, originally I had the temp gage mounted externally on the headset/speedo bezel. It was exposed to the elements, and it would have been easy for someone to rip it right off the bezel. I couldn't read the gage at night too. So I decided to place it in the speedo cluster to protect it from the weather and people, as well as have the gages readable at night via speedo illumination lamp.

I live on Oahu currently riding a gtx also mine doesn’t have panels either except front panel. It’s a blast raking off red lights in a piece of shit looking fucka and smoke em. Nice build so far. I I have another build similar in that I cut the case to mold a 50 mm piston still working on that one though good luck shoots

That's a healthy patina you got on there, I'd get on that asap. BTW I recommend TC-11 as a lube/protectant, been using the stuff for years, it disappeared for a while, and now its back on shelves. I use it on all my tools and locks and stuff and they never get rusty. Works good on all the bike joints and whatnot. Can by it at pop marine by Nicos pier 38.

I was beginning to think of what I could put on the steel parts for preservation...and then you provided a solution. I didn't want to fully get into the surface rust issue without a plan for preservation. I think I'm going to initially try Naval Jelly to get rid of the rust. I was going to wire wheel and sand it, but I don't want to deal with airborne rust dust.

I put the 90 block in because I pulled the threads out of a stud hole while torquing head studs on my original gtx block about 4 years ago. It used to be my daily rider from Waimanalo to Pearl Harbor everyday. I used to run it with full panels. About 2 years ago, I took the rear panels off because it was cracked where the gas cap is. I left the front fairings on at that time though. I guess I was going for that same unassuming look...all busted up piece of crap, just all motor no fancy. Nice scoots get targeted by thieves. The engine that is on it currently could make the speedo needle go off-scale past the high beam indicator and pin against the clear speedo cover. If you look at the pic of my speedo face you can see 2 black dots past the 50. It was to give me an idea of the speed once the needle went off-scale past the 50 mark. First dot is "60" and the second dot is "70". I am in no way claiming 70mph. The speedo was calibrated to the radar speed sign at the start of Waimanalo up to 45mph. The only proof of speed I have is a speeding ticket for 49mph in a 35mph zone in Hawaii Kai.
